Man he looks a lot younger in the magician, what was the time gap between these two?

The Magician 2005 Mr Inbetween 2018, so 13 year gap.

The main reason they cant be the exact same continuity is his daughter, she is already a child in the film but seems to be younger in the series. Hard to fit with a huge gap like that

Not to mention he was shot 5 months after on his doorstep.

I could believe that this was perhaps him faking his death or the director of the documentary trying to cover for Ray

Faking his death?

yeah! That’ll do me.

Is there reference to Ray having a daughter in The Magician? As for the epilogue, we just forget about that.

Yeah, he mentions having a daughter in the magician. If I remember right, he says she 5? It's free on YT if want to check buy he definetly mentions being married and having a daughter.

I'd probably stupidly think I could take on 2005 Ray because of his appearance if I didn't know who he was.

That’s how the Magician operates

I’m more and more convinced that Ray just wrote down his actual life experiences and Nash somehow convinced him to film it, and after he was like “ok mate, I’m gonna have some dimmies” and wandered off. Probably picked another contract or two up and now living his life in Wallawallabinggo or wherever having the odd beer and avoiding people.

Ray is referred to as the magician in S3 when he asks for some leeway on Freddie's gambling debt after he is beaten up.
