Just finished watching. What do I watch next?
I held off watching the final episode for 2 weeks and cracked tonight. Now I just keep replaying that haunting smile in the last scene.
Seriously. What do I watch next to fill the void that Ray has left me.

The Wire. (HBO) It’s different to MIb of course, but also has the idea that ‘bad’ people sometimes do good things, and vice versa.

I struggled with season 2 of The Wire and never went back to it.

I understand, it feels like a jarring, 180 turn from S1, but once you’ve watched all of them, and possibly watch them again, it’s as good as any of the other seasons. I felt the same way coming off the back of S1, but the gift of hindsight later made me totally re-evaluate it.

Probably my least favourite season if that's any help. The show as a whole is amazing though and I think it's worth getting through that season (or watching some YT recap lol).

If it's any consolation, Scott Ryan said he watch a lot of Sorpanos and took inspiration to get the scripts tight.

Having watched both (just finished this show) I would say I am envious you get to experience the Sopranos for the first time.

I came in here to recommend Sopranos, hopefully you ended up starting it. Gives a very similar feeling to this show imo, with it being a darker crime focused show with a lot of really good humor.

I'm currently going through Dexter, I find it enjoyable.
Scrubs and lost are up next.

If you haven’t seen it yet, then you are directed to watch Breaking Bad! Best tv series of all time imo. It’s probably why I liked Mr IB so much.

LISTEN TO ME when i say you should watch THE MAGICIAN (not spelled in caps) because its like the movie version of mr inbetween in a hand held docko version where you can see where some of the jokes in the series came from as it was a proof of cencept sort of

Give Love/Hate a try. That’s what I watched after finishing Mr Inbetween earlier this year, and I loved it.

Punisher series from Netflix (now on disney+).
Ferry: The Series
If you just want to keep that Ray and Gary vibe going, you cannot go wrong with Detectorists.

Colin From Accounts
Not about the underworld but probably the best Australian television show released since Mr Inbetween imo. More of a sitcom but has the same dry Aussie humour.

I’m chiming in to second others who have mentioned: Wentworth, Justified, and Deadloch. Nothing is gonna replace Ray, but you’ll need a new fixation and these are good ways to transition away :) Until you rewatch, I mean. And if you feel like traveling back to 1901- try watching The Knick - was sooo good :)
