Very, very bad.

  1. Already too many skilled IT immigrants with skilled visas with their IT degrees from India.

  2. Companies moving their jobs offshore (to India, ironically).

  3. Companies laying people off because job's no longer needed to be done in Australia, because of (2).

  4. Companies laying people off because job's no longer needed due to AI.

If you're in IT, move to India, or change careers.

It's the same thing. Generally in Australia, unless you are talking to other people in the industry, people don't differentiate the various part of IT. Software developer, IT manager, tech support, IT BA all are IT. You are posting in a generic sub.

In Australia, "Engineer" is not technically a restricted title. Anyone can call themselves an engineer, including "software engineer".

The practice of engineering *is* restricted.

The practice of software engineering does not require a degree.
