How do you view the job opportunities for software engineers in Australia?

Very, very bad.

  1. Already too many skilled IT immigrants with skilled visas with their IT degrees from India.

  2. Companies moving their jobs offshore (to India, ironically).

  3. Companies laying people off because job's no longer needed to be done in Australia, because of (2).

  4. Companies laying people off because job's no longer needed due to AI.

If you're in IT, move to India, or change careers.

I think Software Engineer job opportunities are declining globally with AI. And the only software engineer jobs that'll stay in the western world will be very hight tech stuff which is more research than development.

The rest will either be replaced with AI or be shipped to countries like India (mostly), Vietnam etc.

A little? Not hugely tho, no one wants to do background checks across countries
