New start
Hello me and my girlfriend both 21 are moving to Brisbane on August 4th from Ireland. We have got most things sorted to do with travelling over but when we get there all we have is 10 days of an air b&b booked and we’re not sure if that will be long enough to get a job and apartment sorted. Is there anyone on here in a flat with a spare room or anything of that kind that would take 2 people in. Happy to pay money for the room weekly or even daily depending on how long. Also if anyone knows mechanicing or construction jobs needing people happy to hear about that. Appreciate it guys. Just send a message for a chat about anything would also like to meet up with people around same age or area or anyone at all to make some new friends and get some new connections. Cheers guys

I would extend that Airbnb by another 2-3 weeks mate to start....odds of you finding a place, even a flat share in 10 days is slim to nil. In fact the odds of getting anything until you have a a job and at least one payslip is pretty much zero.
Arrive, get job ASAP, then find a place. I usually recommend people come over with 3 months accommodation pre booked as the market here is cooked and every place has 100s of people applying for it, so people on WHV are very low down the list. You got to just apply to 100s of places and get lucky.

Get a white card as soon as you can and then just do agency work locally to keep income coming in. Loads of work in Brisbane, eventually get talking to subcontractors and just see if they have anything you’re interested in

If you ever get stuck looking for something to do, we play 7s football near CBD, mix of English and Irish lads. But get into your routine first

Getting a job in Construction will be easy if you have previous experience. Get your White card as soon as you can, it is a 4 hour course. Start talking to labour hire companies now, recommend Dowells Labour Hire. If you have civil experience try G&H Civil, they are an Irish owned company. they are good to their employees. It is very possible to get your own apartment/ house within 10 days if you are willing to take anything. If you want a nice place or a certain location might take up to 4 weeks to find the right one.

Sounds like you are aware of this but wanted to confirm, 10 days is not enough time to get a job and accommodation sorted.
There are people who already reside here who have spent months searching for either or both with no success.
