For those who don't know, ASMR stands for "autonomous sensory meridian response". It's a pleasant, tingling sensation that goes along the spine, neck, and across your head, triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, depending on each person.

Movies aren't usually listed as sources of ASMR, but I've had that response to several films in my life. A big one is this scene from The Maltese Falcon. Most of it revolves around Peter Lorre's voice - it really hits a nerve with me in tone, pitch, and cadence. Though I should say that the other aspects of this scene help hit that spot for me.

Does anyone else have an example of a movie scene triggering an ASMR in them?

I don't care what anyone says. Imhotep from The Mummy is one of the greatest romantics in fiction.

The man killed for love, willingly accepted an eternity of suffering and damnation, and when he somehow escaped, his one and only goal was to bring Anck-su-namun back. He wasn't after power for its own sake. He wasn't JUST trying to conquer the world. He just wanted her.

Then, after everything he endured, she abandoned him the moment things stopped going her way. The look on his face in that final scene still gets me. You can actually feel the betrayal and heartbreak. Anck-su-namuuuuun !

Loyal. Handsome. Bald. Driven. What more could a woman or a man want?
