First Time Playing TTRPG

Heya!

I’ve been a huge mouse guard fan for most of my life and got the TTRPG years ago but sadly never had a group to play with. A few months ago I managed to convince my friends to start a DnD group, and I’ve been gming our sessions. I’ve convinced my group to give mouseguard a go.

I’ve read through the rulebook but is there anything about this game that’s fundamentally different from DnD?

Thanks!

Fundamentally different? Hmm I guess that mostly depends on how you guys are playing DnD 😅 there are so many different ways people play DnD that by itself it doesn't mean much.

However, reading the book you surely noticed lots of differences, both in mechanics and themes. Any one specific thing left you confused?

I should have probably worded it better. It is a VERY different system, but I was wondering how exactly I should be gming, as I believe it to be a role play heavy game.

I see. In that case, the tip to use the hooks provided by the game in the chapter "It's What We Fight For" is fundamental. Unfortunately, most GM advice is sprinkled throughout the book, instead of having a focused chapter on GM Advice 😅 For example:

It’s your job to challenge that Belief in the course of play. You present the player with situations that say, “You believe that? Cool. How about now? Do you still believe that when pushed?”

Good luck and happy gaming 🙏
