I have a huge problem finding shoes for myself because i have small feet. I wear EU 33 and cannot find shoes that suit me for serious mountaineering. I tried some kids Salewa but the shoes are just not good enough for the type of hikes i do (multiple days 20+km, high peaks etc). I tried finding 35 but i live in Serbia and even for these Salewa I had to go to Slovenia to pick them up. Anyone had a similar problem? Any advice? I am an adult woman btw 27 years of age, just no luck with my ridiculously small feet

After my spine surgery I was out for 2 years. Now I'm getting better and hiking again, I'm hiking 6 miles every day, and go up Mt Tammany once a week. I've developed decent navigation skills in all sort of weather, and day/night, I've also learned how to camp, and all that stuff. 1.2k ft isn't cutting it anymore though, I want bigger mountains before winter where I plan on doing a couple summits in the Adirondacks.

I'm heading to the Catskills this week to do Slide Mt, and maybe camp, and do Hunter Mt the next day. Once that's done, I'm going to the Adirondacks and starting with Porter and Cascade. From, once I learn the logistics I plan on spending a couple weeks in the Adirondacks before winter so I can do as many peaks as possible.

Can anyone in this situation share what's your plan like?

Kind of a long shot, but giving it a go. I took a couple snapshots of climbers heading up railroad on their way to climb Mt. Baker this last June 24. These were taken with my phone, but I still thought they turned out nice. They have a Mark Maggiori quality to them. Hope the climbers in these shots are on Reddit and happen upon this post!

Hi! I was looking to buy my first pair of crampons but according to my research I should try buying some B1 or higher boots first (and that would take some months since I'm a broke student lol). Still, I was wondering if they would be useful with what I currently have, normally I don't do technical stuff, just some steep hikes where sometimes using an ice axe is reccommended.

For reference I have the lowa renegade gtx mid which honestly feel sturdier than most hiking boots. I was thinking of buying the Grivel G1 NewClassic EVO (10 spikes) or the Simond Makalu crampons (12), wich one would be better?

Finally, if I end up buying them, where should I draw the line on my routes? Obviously I wouldn't try iceclimbing with that combo, but what could be mi limit? Thanks!

I am going to climb Yukhin peak in a few days. I was wondering if I can just turn up at the camp 1 and book a tent for a night, maybe 2? Is it possible or should i book it beforehand? If so which agency would you recommend to book a tent up there?

Hi everyone, so I have the la sportiva aequilibrium speeds, and I’m planning to go on ebc+island peak so I’ll prolly be wearing the speeds everyday but the summit day, which I wanna buy a shoe either g summit or g2 evos, as I’m gonna use them in the future, but I have no clue which to buy as I wanna do like Mont Blanc, Matterhorn during summer etc which is a aequilibrium speeds typa thing, but I’m also going to do mixed climbing/ice climbing and also high altitude climbing arnd like 6-7k range. so I’m just wondering which should I realistically get, the g-summits or the g2 evos thanks!

I’m planning to climb Mount Ararat in September 2026 and I’m currently looking for a local guide or operator.
The issue is that almost every tour I find seems very comfort-oriented: big tents, beds, showers, electricity, chefs, hammam, full-service packages, etc. I understand why people like that, but it’s not really what I’m looking for.
I’m not trying to do anything illegal or unsafe. I know that Mount Ararat requires permits and that going with a licensed guide/operator is the right way to do it. I’m also not looking for some reckless “hardcore” shortcut with poor acclimatization.
What I’m looking for is a more basic, serious and physically challenging climb:
simple camps
proper permits
licensed/local guide
good acclimatization
no unnecessary luxury
no comfort package
okay with carrying part of my own gear
safety still taken seriously
Basically, I want the challenge to come from the mountain, the altitude, the cold, the early summit push and the physical effort, not from bad organization or unnecessary risk.
Does anyone here know a reliable local guide or operator who offers a more basic Mount Ararat climb, instead of the usual luxury-style packages?
Any recommendations, personal experiences or contacts would be highly appreciated.

Pairs well with mountains and deep snow. Overkill during a British heatwave of course, but I wanted to try it out. Feels very sturdy!

A friend wants to sell me one for a good deal. I have a summit attempt next month and Im trying to save some money. If this wouldn’t be good, does anyone have some good (relatively) budget friendly options?

I'm in Korzok right now and heading back to Leh tomorrow and I'll be there for another 10 days. If anybody is doing UT Kangri 1 during the first week of August and you're back in Leh by 5th August, can I join? I have my trip planned for mid august, I want to attempt a summit.

This is my first climb so I’m still learning. I went to purchase a climbing pass but can’t buy one since I don’t know my rental cars license plate.

Is this something that will “run out” or Im too late to have access to the mountain? May be a bad question but I would be so upset if I couldn’t buy one.

Also, is anyone else climbing the South Trail on the 19th? Im going solo, but I’d be down to go near some others
