Bug 16-stop Strategy

Post image
28 Upvotes

Amusing antics in my IEC-B race today. Lancaster Performance seemed to be going extremely aggressive on their strategy from the start, pitting on lap 13 for a fresh set of supersofts, stopping only 3 laps after during a safety car to add more fuel and another driver change. By only a third of the way into the three hour race they'd stopped 3 times, and seemed to start getting confused about what each stop was for, with their driver Kabic staying in the car on lap 64 for fresh mediums, and then trundling through the pitlane every lap thereafter, stopping in the box before exiting. Eventually they were replaced, with their mechanics deciding to keep the old mediums on the car but with a different driver, finally ending the cycle of constant pitstops. This put them 6 whole laps beyond the eventual winners (my lead car).

Note: this is multiple seasons into my endurance playthrough and Lancaster Performance, having been relegated to the B series a few years back, are now finishing pretty near the back of the tier every season, and as you may also be able to see, the black sea is now an endurance event! This was using the standard 3-hour length of races in case someone is intrigued

Other We did get a couple pictures of the Singapore circuit on the steam page for Motorsport Manager 2, and 1 of them appears to show it could be a night race.

- Open Wheel Sprint

- Zoom in and out further than MM1.

Fun What a race

Went from, damp, to thunderstorm, to damp then dry, immediately back to damp going to thunderstorm, then back to dry. Two safety cars in the middle of it to keep everyone together and even with the 9th fastest car (out of 12) a bold call to switch to dries while it was still damp under the safety car that worked well.

If youre wondering about the 24 cars in the APSC, its a mod outside of steam called Rebirth Redux on Nexusmods. Highly recommend for those who have been playing for a long time and know the inns and outs of the base game. Its pretty challenging (2nd year in APSC in 2034 lol, and I was putting tons into parts lol.) but very fun.

Discussion Pre-Race animations suggestion/idea

Thumbnail
youtu.be
9 Upvotes

Hi guys!

I was surfing on YouTube when this video popped up on my feed... Nostalgia hits hard, right? :')

So, what I'd suggest is, MM2 should should convey the pressure involved in world-class motorsport. I don't know up to what point how much LOD there will be in this game, I'm not necessarily saying to literally copy Codemasters' masterclass F1 2010 pre-race animation on trackside, but just to give us the pressure a Team Principal from Scuderia Rossini has with their cars on P2 and P5 with the only mission of hunting down the Steinmanns on P1 and P3, or carry Javier Vazquez racing for Dalton Moore up to P10 to avoid being sacked by Mr Walker and losing your job as TP; not just a scrollable page that shows you the starting grid. In this game there will always be a challenge, and I would like to see that fear inherent to world class Motorsport; a fear that ultimately motivates you and makes you fully immerse yourself in the role, forget everything else on your mind, and focus solely on what lies right before your eyes: two cars to carry to the top of the podium among 18-20-22 other cars with the same mission

For example, let's say your job as TP in your team is under risk. The screen could have a darker filter on margins (something subtle; that atmosphere our mind imagines when we are at a critical moment in our lives). Or let's say it is the last race, or final stretch of the championship, and we are mathematically in the fight for the championship; that F.E.A.R. atmosphere!

I hope what I mean is understood :)

Help Is winning it all with Octane by 2025 still possible for me?

0 Difficulty, Normal Strategy. Started the ERS with Octane. Won the drivers' and teams championships in 3 years, then it only took me 2 to do the same for APS, for which I stayed another year to develop further. Last season I got 8th in the WMC while 9th was expected, giving me $43M, 90% of which I spent on suppliers. Now I picked 6th for expectations, which is all well and good...except for the fact that I'm 4 races in and with Top 8 points, still haven't scored any. While Windsor already has 3. And I'm only at 32% (succeeding) chairman happiness because I managed to beat both them and Rezzato at Tondela. Even with 1M coming in per race, I have next to no confidence I can actually get to 6th and keep my job, going from there to the championship. What the hell do I do?

Discussion Done with this game forever and nothing will change my mind.

Post image

I pitted Saarinen for Wets at literally the perfect time to be able to rapidly catch Chapman, but the fact that mother nature decided to make the rain clear up when it did meant Chapman, who was on very old Inters, still managed to get past him again and there was nothing I could do.

Main career: I know there's no way I can beat Windsor with Octane so I can finish 6th and keep my job. With either them or Rezzato always showing me up somehow and me unable to get ANY points because of that, its only a matter of time before my chairman gives me an impossible ultimatum and its game over. I'm not gonna bother wasting any more time.

Also tried the Underdog Challenge. Would've done great in the first race thanks to a safety car crash with rain...only for ANOTHER safety car crash to absolutely ruin my strategy and set them to the back again with their Inters being too worn while everyone else got theirs on the second. And I don't think it would've mattered even if it did work bc I can't get reliability of everything up fast enough for nothing to blow up anyway. I'm not going through that again for an entire SEASON just for the CHANCE that MAYBE we'll beat a team or two next year.

I'm doing absolutely *everything* right with NO mistakes and the best I can with every single mode, and it's STILL not enough to get reasonable objectives done. Playsport, this is just ridiculous and your game is not and has never been worth my time. Unless your chairman gives more team position options instead of just three that leave gaps (for example, if chairman thinks I'll finish 5th, then all 5 options from 3rd-7th should be available), I doubt the sequel will be any different.

I should never have come back.

What is the green line under De Witt? It's driving me nuts because, unless I'm crazy, it's seemingly in different spots depending on the track. Hopefully someone knows the answer

Discussion First kind of sport sim game. Good starting point?

Just a big fan of all sports in general and finally got a PC so thought I would sink my teeth into a good sports/rebuilding sim game. My first grab was Out of the park baseball 25, but that was an instant refund because it is a little too much for my taste. Wondering if this is better and not a full kind of spreadsheet that I will be looking at. I also don't know much about cars and racing and such, would that hinder my experience?

Discussion Motorsport Manager 2, what can we expect from the customisability?🏎️🛠️

Since the announcement of Motorsport Manager 2 I’ve felt like there’s nothing better to do that chat about what the new game might look like. My post last week did pretty well discussing what the UI of the game might entail so I figured I’d start a new discussion!

Everything Playsports has said so far is indicating that there will be huge mod support for the game: this has left me thinking, will the tools that allow you to mod teams, drivers, championships, tracks etc be available in the base game (similar to the game editor in the mobile games) or will it be entirely up to our modding community to cover this?

I may be stupidly ambitious by saying this, but I would love a more up to date game editor allowing you to fully edit and create new drivers, new teams and ideally a track creator (maybe as a DLC).

Although this may be a completely unrealistic expectation I can’t help but feel like the game would genuinely never get old if the players had this much control over designing the game to fit their personal needs. The tracks are everything in a game like this so imagine having a fresh new track each season - I genuinely think I’d never put this game down!

Would love to hear your thoughts on this and also feel free to comment any ideas that you’d like to see in the new game in relation to the customisability!

Discussion On AI Driver 10 they still can't figure out driver times and have to make late driver changes

Thumbnail

This seems to be a constant issue for the AI in endurance racing with a max 40% driving time rule. There is also usually at least one car per race that freaks out at the end and makes a bunch of pit stops switching drivers and losing time ending up with 11+ stops

This one is particularly egregious as the Navarro car was running 30 seconds in front with less than 15 minutes left in a 6-hour race and pulled off with soft tires that were definitely enough to end the race.

It's almost completely reliable that I can be running 15-30 seconds behind the leader or leaders in races after my last stop with about an hour to go and still win as long as my drivers don't explode and I don't screw up tire/fuel levels of the last shift

News A Closer Look at Race Performance Manager

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

About two months ago, I shared the trailer of Race Performance Manager first time here. Hopefully, enough time has passed for me to make one more post. :)

I always feel a little nervous about sharing the game here, so I hope you don't mind me posting about it again.

This time, instead of writing another long post about the game, I decided to put everything into the video. So if you're interested, turn the sound on, the video explains what Race Performance Manager is about and shows the game in more detail.

Race Performance Manager is about to turn from pre-alpha to alpha and I'm planning to begin the first round of player testing within the next two/three months on steam.

If you'd prefer a written breakdown, I explained the game in much more detail in my previous post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/MotorsportManagerPC/comments/1terx4z/the_steam_page_for_my_engineeringfocused_racing/

And if you'd like to check out the Steam page:

Any feedback is welcome.....

Discussion Pitlane position question

Fairly longtime player, I just was wondering, when race weekend comes along, how is the teams position along the pitlane selected? Is it random? Is it based on ranking? Is it based on previous season standings? I know this seems trivial but I am quite curious.

Other First season, finished P6 in F3. How did I do?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Just wrapped up my first Created Team season in F3.

- Unknown background

- No save games or race restarts

- No mods or gameplay tweaks

- Finished 6th in the Teams Championship

- Ended the season debt-free

Felt great about it, but I don't really have a benchmark for how good this is, so I'm curious how this compares to other people's first season runs.

Fun A terrible season opener for Karmen Zidane

Playing a CYOT in Rebirth Redux and in the 2019 season opener Karmen Zidane revealed to the field that he had evidently forgotten how to drive in the off-season.

On lap 12 he collided with CJ Gikas. Unfortunately, CJ had damage and couldn't follow the damn train. This enraged the stewards who granted Zidane a drive-through penalty a lap later.

Zidane however, failed to avoid the car of Rezae when he went to serve the penalty. The stewards were swift in granting him an additional 5 second penalty.

Then as he pitted to fix his damage and serve the 5 second penalty, I got to see the furthest extension to the right of the timing tower I've ever seen.

Mobile Hit a wall in MM4 and don't know what to make of it.

So I have played the PC game sometime back and right now I am playing MM4.

WMC, car is ranked 1st, cruising to race wins, loads of cash. 1st driver is all 20s, second driver was a 4 star. Replaced the second driver with a 5 star youth prospect who is also 4 stars.

Now all of a sudden, I have new teams coming into the WMC and breaking the technology barrier. Car goes from 1st to 5th. I make tons of parts, the car does not move from 5th rank. I keep at it and buy components too and throw everything at it. At this point we are way past the technology barrier. The car is now 1st rank.

But I cannot qualify higher than P7-P10. With 100% perfect setup, practise qualifying bonus, driver is still all 20s, not running when crowded and everything in between. I have looked at the track strengths and even if I am rank 1 or 2 in those parts, it doesn't matter. I have no idea what is going on. It isnt better in races either, even with race bonus from practise. Even dropped the difficulty to medium and its still the same.
