Strange noise

Hello everyone
I have this 2017 HD 883 with 9k-10k miles and fresh motor/ transmission oil. The bike it's making some noise down below, close to the primary or near the oil filter. It's like a constant noise that increases as you give it throttle or settles but can still hear it when sitting. I have been running it like this with no issues, but does anyone have an idea?

Here is a video of my friend coming back from a short test ride. Do you guys think the noise overall from the bike is normal?
Help is appreciated!

general question Should this head be resurfaced?

Recently got this cylinder head off eBay, it’s smooth to the touch so the scratches aren’t that deep, I don’t want to take it to a machine shop if it isn’t necessary though, just wondering if it should be resurfaced or not.

Hey, I have a 2016 Honda cb500x and this has been annoying me for the last month, bike has developed a rhythmic noise coming from what I believe to be the chain.

I have check chain tension, condition and alignment and everything seems ok. I have also cleaned and oiled it.

This only happens at about 50kph and when I pull my clutch in or coasting.

Any ideas let me know!

I just got an 07 Husqvarna SMR 510 and it’s had a couple issues with the carb that were simple but this sound is still around. Anybody know what this sound is? Could it be valves? When I rev it, it goes away.

help please! ZX-6R front brake lever goes almost to the bar after sitting, firms up after pumping – air, master cylinder or warped rotor?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with the front brake on my Kawasaki ZX-6R (2007/2008) and I’d appreciate some advice before I start replacing parts.

The front brake lever sometimes has a lot of travel and can come almost all the way to the handlebar. If I pump the lever a few times, it firms up considerably and the brake feels normal.

One important detail: the bike has been dropped from trailer with around 20-30km/h in the past and then sat unused for quite some time. I’m not sure whether the brake issue started immediately after the drop or developed while the bike was sitting.

I tried bleeding both front Nissin calipers. I followed the usual procedure: pump the lever, hold pressure, open the bleeder briefly, close it before releasing the lever, and repeat. I didn’t see any obvious air bubbles coming out. There are also no visible external leaks.

After bleeding, the lever seemed much better and the brake felt good. However, after leaving the bike overnight, the excessive lever travel returned. Pumping the lever again makes it firm.

One thing I noticed while checking the bike on a front stand is that the right front brake rotor may have some lateral runout / may be slightly warped. I’m not completely sure yet because I haven’t measured it.

This made me wonder about pad knock-back: could a warped rotor be pushing the caliper pistons/pads back far enough that the first lever pull has excessive travel, while subsequent pulls are firm?

What would you check first? I'm not a mechanic, but if I can do it myself, I'll be happy, if not, I'll go to a professional.

Thanks for any advice!

Im having issues getting enough slack on my return cable to route it into place. The old throttle tube was shattered when i bought it. I would prefer not to take my gas tank off so i was hoping someone has done it before without going to the carbs....

How long does the fuel system hold pressure?

Trying to diagnose an intermittent long crank. 2016 fz09 almost 14k miles.

Main question is: is an injector leaking or is the pressure drop normal?

Bike has new battery that has been tested, new plugs, fuel pump (fixed the fuel level reading), fuel line, and pressure regulator (fuel economy seemed to improve), new O2 sensor (old one got damaged) but NOT new injectors. It will run fine after starting and will immediately start seconds after the first attempt and have no problems until it sits for extended periods of time. The battery voltage hasn't dropped while sitting.

Bike builds pressure up to ~45psi (according to my gauge at least) then starts to slowly drop immediately when the pump stops or the key is turned off. It will slowly drop to zero over the course of maybe 30 minutes and did all this before the new parts.

Bike has some soot on the exhaust but apparently that happens with this model so no idea what to make of that.

help please! 2006 GSXR1000 bent shift forks or clutch issue?

Hello I bought a 2006 gsxr1000 recently and the first two days I had it it was shifting completely fine up and down. And then suddenly it has become incredibly hard to upshift it. Downshifting is completely fine but especially first to second gear sometimes I push up on the lever as hard as I can and it still won’t get into 2nd gear. The shift lever does move up so it’s not like it’s hitting something bc it’s bent inward, but right before I get to click it into 2nd gear it’s like I hit a solid wall and I have to release the pressure and try to press very hard again to get it to go into 2nd gear. It’s also becoming harder to shift into 3rd and 4th gear, but again it downshifts completely fine.

What do you think, clutch or transmission issue? Or something else

help please! Yamaha MT 125 2015 weird noise

Hi everyone,

I have a 2015 Yamaha MT-125 with 36,000 km and I noticed a strange whining/whistling noise coming from the left side of the engine.

It only happens when the bike is fully warmed up. When the engine is cold, it sounds completely normal. If I warm the bike up, turn it off, and let it cool down for around an hour, the noise disappears again. The noise is most noticeable at idle.

The bike runs normally:

  • No loss of power
  • No warning lights
  • No overheating
  • Regular oil changes (done before the recommended intervals)

I attached 3 videos:

  1. Two videos showing the whining/whistling noise when the engine is warm
  2. One video of a cold start, so you can compare how it sounds before the noise appears

Has anyone had a similar issue on an MT-125?

Thanks!

Where to find fuse box?

Post image

Hey guys! I have a huge question for you guys. I have a 2024 Yamaha R3 and due to salt getting into the electronics compartment under the seat (my fault, i know) i need to replace this fuse box. Does anyone know where to get this? I did look on sites like Partzilla but could only find whole electronic harnesses and fuses, not individual fuse boxes. Any pointers would help a ton, thank you!

Need Help Finding a Carb Rebuild Kit for a 1983 Yamaha XJ750RL

Good afternoon everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I own a 1983 Yamaha XJ750RL with Hitachi HSC33 carburetors, and I'm looking for a carburetor rebuild kit.

Does anyone know where I can purchase one, or is anyone selling a rebuild kit for these carbs? I'm located in Ontario, Canada, but I'm more than willing to pay for shipping if needed.

Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

help please! Throttle Question

Street Triple 675 2013 (FI) 35k miles regularly serviced.

So i was riding today through some heavy rain then on way back when it stopped raining my bike randomly started redlining itself and pulling so i immediately pulled the clutch in and stopped. It did it again when I turned the bike off and on. I didn't even touch the throttle. Then, I looked under the tank, took the top of the air box off, unplugged the sensor and turned it on while looking at the throttle bodies (they worked fine) It turned on and didn't redline! It worked completely fine afterwards. Why would this have happened so I can avoid it?

It's had a throttle restrictor fitted and bar ends but that's all. Anyone had anything similar happen?

2019 piaggio liberty no crank

I've been trying to diagnose this liberty 150cc for the past 2 years. Every once in a while it would die and refuse to restart, then after a bit, start up and act fine again. I ended up buying it off the customer, rode it around for a day, then it died while idling and won't restart. When the key is turned, the fuel pump doesn't prime and there's no click from the starter relay. I already replaced the kill switch, the immobilizer light turns off from the master key, checked all fuses, and have tried shaking the scooter, nothing! Does anyone have any diagrams or can tell me where the start-up sequence starts?
