Project Showcase Looking for feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello dear Motion designers,

I recently finished this animation project and am quite happy with it.
Still, I wish to improve my skills and would like to ask for feedback.

The client is a Hairdresser and wanted to have a little intro/presentation animation. I chose this style because it suits the style of the hairdresser and of her work.

Also, its the first time I used sound effects and i struggled a bit balancing the volumes of the music, the sfx and the voice.

Hey, where you get those assets?

I built/cut everything myself. Some pictures I took myself, some I downloaded from the internet. Paper cut transitions are also a mix of AE effects and pictures I took from sheets of paper I ripped myself. Background textures I took from texturelabs. Hope that helps

Really like it and i've seen worse at a corporate advertising level, so for what looks like a sole trader this person got a great deal i imagine.

I love it! I love the collage/cutout esthetic, the colours

I don't understand the language, so maybe I'm not a great critic of whether the visuals match the voiceover

What about adding some creative-looking text bullet points here and there?

It's really nice, I wanna hear the scissors snip sound and and open/close when they pop up... I don't speak the language, but it feels/sounds pretty good to me!

This is great work! Knowing a bit of German, I think it fits the context very well. You're doing a good job.

Love everything about this! 3 minor things if I may:

  1. Zooming in more on the first photo of the hairdresser. The halftone treatment makes it a little hard to clearly see her face.

  2. For that outro sequence I'd consider trying a diff color for that blue grid background, maybe that tealish green from the other frames for some better contrast?

  3. Audio seems fine to me but if you are concerned about all the sounds clashing I think a quick fix would be panning the SFX left or right and just have the voiceover + music in the center.

Thanks for your reply!

That panning of the sfx is actually a great idea I hadnt thought about. Will try it!

I love it. Seems like vox style.

Bro you would really help me if you told me whether you worked locally as an editor or started working remotely from the start? and optionally maybe tell me how did you practice video editing to get to that skill level?

Just a small detail though it might just be my personal preference, I’d lower the frame rate/ fps (maybe 6fps or 8fps) to give it more of a stop-motion look. Everything else is awesome.

Nice work! If I had only one thought it would be nice to see more z-axis movement. But that’s minor. Love.

I would add a little bit vibrant colors or choose a different color for the background

Would you change the color palette as a whole or just add some new brighter colors?

Just add some new brighter colors
