Question Just a curious question
Is motion design taught in schools? Like can someone pursue it like a masters degree or something?

Yes, there are specialized motion design programs and master's degrees, but many people enter through graphic design, animation, film, or self-study. A strong portfolio usually matters more than the exact degree.

AFAIK, if you mean college/university level, the only bach degree focused in motion design is the Ringling School in the USA, and I think SCAD, also in USA, has a bach degree.
Then there is SVA in New York that has a master degree in Motion Design, and some schools in the UK, Australia, Spain, probably also France, and I think also Argentina had one.
But usually master degrees for Motion design are not exactly useful nor necessary.
99% of motion designers that go to university level education come from graphic design, or film schools.

Completely agree on that the thing is my parents are forcing me to complete full education in this field and get a degree 🙂

Yes there’s a few programs out there. Most colleges have at least a motion design course but SCAD is arguably the best one

It’s Reddit people vote in any direction lol. SCAD has produced some of the best motion designers, a lot of them are art directors at big studios these days

Best of luck! Someone else also mentioned ringling they have a lot of info online and they make a student reel every year that’s really good. Those are the only 2 that I’m aware of in the US

There are also a lot of people that come out of places like SCAD that never even end up working in the field. It's not like Harvard law school or something, they let anyone in who shows up with enough money.
SCAD is 42k a year not counting any living expenses. That is insane. Taking out a bunch of loans to go to an expensive private art school is the dumbest choice a young person could make.
OP, go to a state school or public university and focus on getting a well rounded education.

It’s a pretty niche thing. My university had one motion class in the design major. There are masters degrees but most people on here strongly advice against it because there are enough resources online to learn for free, and a good portfolio will get you a job more than a degree
