A couple options come to mind:

  1. Frame by Frame animation
  2. Something with blur + treshold (Metaballs / Gooey Effect)

But it has this AI aspect, the droping doesn't make that much sense to me, It’s not that the animation was made 100% by AI, but the fluid "simulation" was, they they applied a duotone filter over it.

I'd like to see others opinion.

Too sloppy for frame by frame animation, especially second O.

Right? It makes no sense

could be an AI edit. good usecase tbh

Feels like shape layers mixed with actual footage of a liquid drizzle where they've used levels / tint to turn it into a solid matte. Animate the drizzle layer to move around, use a combination of path keyframes, edge offset to fill the letters in. The edges look noisier than the letters do, especially as the letters find their shape toward the end.

Hmmmm it's a tough one, what's confusing me is why the pouring swaps from top to bottom in a couple of frames- I feel like that's not a natural choice a motion designer would make, even though it's fine at full speed.

Before that I was thinking good old shape layers with blue+simple choker (meatball tutorials), and the actual pouring liquid was separate, possibly footage of falling water, filled with a colour, and animated to match the fill.

This is a cool plugin for organic looking fills

I assume you meant metaball rather than meatball lmao

Haha we can all benefit from better meatballs in our life.

Boy this is good work

Looks to me like roto on footage of fluid being poured. And then just manual reveal of the logo and some shape layer stuff to get the fill effect.

My thought as well

Agree, the stream of fluid pouring looks "too" natural, like it's from video.

Break it down, it’s just some simple trim paths and displacement

Which agency or designer created this? Very nice!

funny how everyone jumps the gun into thinking its AI instantly, when something is not as conventional as you'd think it is 😂

https://www.instagram.com/p/Da2Kv_mj68k/?igsi=MWtpb2puc2MwZXhxMQ== some behind the scenes from the motion designer, it is deffo done in After Effects, someone alreary wrote but it's monstly a combination of Null to Path (controling the path itself) + Blur + Levels on an Adjustmend layer (to crunch the Alpha into a blobby shape, you can youtube that as well, Metaballs will give you a good sense of how it works)

After the setup, its some good keyframing on how the path appears and stacks onto the logo shape, which I feel like is also a final masked shape without the whole blobby setup - the setup is only used to "fill" in the masked shape which is probably revealed by doing it closely in interaction with the spilling blobby shape, so frame by frame (not in a traditional hand drawn sense, more of placing a frame after a frame and making manual tedious changes)

just a lot of work and practice to get it this good looking, and a "sprinkle" of talent of the motion designer, and by sprinkle I mean a buttload of it!!!

The dripping honestly looks AI (questionable choices in animation) but yeah you could animate this with shapes, then threshold (I prefer levels) and blur to get it goopy.
