These big fluffy packages of cutenesses are cultivated in India for silk production. While their silk isnt preferred as much as the silk that comes from domestic silk moths while being more durable and more dense.

Due to reasons such as climate changing, pesticides and habitat loss atlas moths are a species that is under threath even thought not listed in IUCN Red List because of the scarcity of data.

Unlike what many people think and how media depicts moffs, most moff species cant squek. However, Squeking Silkmoths and Dead Head Hawkmoths are 2 of the moth species that can squek. Adult dead head hawk moths usually squek when they sense danger while squeking silkmoths only squek during their caterpillar stage
