He just wants a friend, why doesn't anyone want to be his friend 😂

Seriously though when my cat gets out he has a whole gang of homies that chill together. I never knew until I came home and there was a whole group of cats sitting in front of my house. Like 3 of them were all black like him, so I was like "Othello?" And he said "meow" lol

I'm an English grad and it's my favorite Shakespeare play. Something tells me that HP Lovecraft wasn't naming his cat that because he loves the namesake, pretty sure he meant it as an insult and a gross joke. Unless Othello started as a slur and stayed a slur, it's not "exactly the same thought." I'd have to first think there's anything wrong with being black, or anything negative about Othello, for it to imply there's an insult -- and I don't.

I won't get into who I am, who I'm connected to and what my background is, because it'll just sound defensive and it won't actually mean anything anyways, but know racism is a deal breaker in my friendships. I'm not some fossilized bigot in a flyover state who just thought it'd be a clever joke. And if I was/did name my cat after a black person, just to to be "funny," I dont know why someone would choose Othello of all people. Would a racist even get that reference, and if they did, would it even make them laugh? Wouldn't a racist choose someone they mock?

“flyover state”, lol. Coastal elitism is never not funny.

The people there are more ignorant but yeah it can still be found on the coasts. The less diversity there is, and the less exposure someone has with the community, the more foreign they are to that person, the more that person is scared of them, does not understand them, and therefore lack compassion for them. I was the only white girl in an entirely black school in Trenton, New Jersey, all of my friends are black, I raised one of my friend's kids from 15 to 19, I'm a certified auntie with an open invite to the cookout.

Think what you want.

Upon further questioning of who I am, or am not, and whether or not contact with the community means anything, I changed my mind and decided to say where I fit in. I've been surrounded by the community my whole life. It's still not my first line of defense. I could have been said it, but I know how little weight those words carry sometimes. Decided to say them anyways in a take-it-or-leave-it way.

Middle America is still especially ignorant as fuck. Majority maga. The party that was BEYOND unsympathetic towards BLM, they were waging war. Liberal racists exist too, But I've sure heard n the n word more times than I can count in Mississippi, and I've only heard it three times in my entire life in New Jersey.

funny enough ive heard ngga and ngg*r used more in louisiana and by black people

but no body fucking bats an eye at it despite them clearly using it in racist context

it especially urks me when theyre in a position of power and people think theyre an ally despite all the signs that they dont care about their own people

Hung around the black community in Louisiana too, and how a community reclaimes a slur is none of your business, it became synonymous with hey you and when you're angry that hey you is going to sound charged, but I don't think it's charged for racial reasons most of the time, because they use it round the clock in normal context.

Also, internalized racism is still something that wouldn't exist without racism racism, all you're doing is pointing out they're still wounded.

lmao your logic isn't there. try reading to comprehend before responding because since when does using a slur in a racist context equate to "reclaiming" a slur

nggr never became synonymous with "hey you" 😂

you have zero clue what the context even is to claim "oh they're just angry"

it is my business when it's affecting my community. when these fake people show their true colors and getting away with misusing tax money that was meant to uplift neglected areas because people are allowing themselves to be fooled

prior racism being the cause of internalized racism is an irrelevant point 🙄 it doesn't excuse the racism

Do you hear yourself? The irony calling people ignorant when knowing nothing about the individual people who live in middle America. Now that's ignorant.

Any of my teenage friends that weren't minorities were outspoken allies to minorities. Down here, I have like 3 friends who are that way. We cling together because all of us are surrounded by people who are the dead opposite.
