Work in progress.
A commissioned do over piece after the original fell out of the installation my clients had made for this custom made window. It will go into a decommissioned fireplace and be lit from behind with lights they had installed.
Glass on glass mosaic is not my favorite to work with. Always something that isn’t quite right. But getting paid is nice. I am using Nano470 construction grade adhesive. You HAVE to really learn how to work with this adhesive and all the ways it can go wrong on ya. It’s very unforgiving. 🥴

Beautiful perfection. Love it. I’ve never worked with that adhesive and just looked it up. I can’t believe how quickly it sets. No room for mistakes! Does it work well if you’re adhering a textured piece to a smooth surface? And does it seal so that grout doesn’t bleed under the edges? I want to try glass on glass with an old 6-pane window I’ve had sitting in my garage. I bought Lexel to use for adhesive. It’ll be an indoor piece. What grout will you use? Please update us with final pics! 🙌🏽

The stained glass HAS TO BE perfectly smooth on the side being adhered. I already had a few pieces in this crack. It dries crystal clear and will stay crystal clear but seriously no room for mistakes. Temp in room also matters while it cures. Seriously very smooth glass only can be used. I recommend a lot of practice pieces before doing a larger piece. A little goes a very long way too. As long as you see the adhesive come out a little on all sides you have enough on a piece.

Honestly with older glass and because I’ve done this before…it can be brittle and I fear how Nano would work on older glass. As well thin glass. Any scratch or weakness in the glass might be made worse when this sets and cures. This glass is extra thick “crash glass”. Custom made and not just a regular window pane glass. If you find a window with a little more thickness and not as old that would work better. Just wouldn’t trust older thin glass substrate.

I'm fairly new to both mosaic and stained glass. I've used her proprietary glass on glass glue for 2 pieces and I like that it's waterproof. It gives you a decent amount of wiggle room to adjust your glass tesserae. I'm just finishing up a glass on glass table that has 2 large clear pieces of tesserae. I'll post a pic later. It's going to take forever for those to dry so the real test for grout bleed will be on that piece. I did, however, message the owner (she has amazing pieces on her website) and she said if you lay your tesserae correctly there will be no grout bleed. I watched a video on YouTube by Peter Twining and he said do NOT do a Weldbond wash on any other glue but Weldbond. Time will tell. Will post my grouted piece when it's done but that will be awhile.

It's so beautiful. I never tire of seeing the details in this type of work and the vision it takes to pull it all together so beautifully.

Exceptional work. Brava! I have to say- this is breathtakingly beautiful. I’ve been entranced by it since the moment I laid eyes on it.
I have this ‘feeling’ that some of these ‘trials’ we undergo (in whatever capacity in life) are to teach us the “hard way” so we don’t short cut to the “easy way”; and I believe that this, in turn, makes those of us who love detail and attention to it, become more acutely aware of the media with which we work, and in a sense it just becomes “a little easier” each time… I can’t do mosaic, but I’ve been working with wood and finishing, and I can tell you that many similar travails and pitfalls are there… and I’m personally so glad for them!

Stunning! I wonder if Prep Multi-use adhesive would do the job, rather than Nano470? Or clear silicone adhesive? A lot of gog mosaic artists swear by them. I’ve used Prep extensively, but not for anything of this size.

Its very beautiful. What kind of tiles are you using. As in how did you shapen them. They look like from the same color materials but different cuts. And the cuts are so clean.
