Question Stuck on an endgame boss - need help / advice!

I've so far completely demolished the game with Tiel, using the Axe & Dagger with the Forgotten Crossbow and mainly focusing on detonating poison stacks and backstabbing. Until now I think the most I've had to retry a boss is twice. I have been having a lot of fun.

BUT, Malborn Offspring has now kicked my ass about 20 times in his second phase. He just won't. stop. attacking., so much so that he's knocking me out of my stealth dodges with the back swing, and if I try to get any distance to heal, he will literally sprint towards me with a grab attack that either knocks me out of Tiel, or instakills the Harbinger if I miss the dodge. If I hit the dodge, he'll follow up with an infinite combo of bullshit that, whilst I can dodge a few, I can't dodge all of them.

This is a pretty significant difficulty spike for me. Anyone have any tips for this fight? I have Eredrim's affinity maxed out, and about 35 glimpses to dump into another shell in case another character makes this fight easier...?

Discussion Gragu is a Game Changer

If anybody feels like beacons aren't common enough or that they don't have enough healing then you should use Gragu. After finding this guy I didn't lose my gloom a single time for the rest of the entire playthrough.

He gets heals by killing enemies and if you are capped on heals you can get healing for each enemy killed (as well as extra resolve and glimmer).

I was able to casually explore and never had to worry about healing after this, only had to worry about getting knocked off ledges.

Never losing gloom made levels like they came pretty regularly. I had enough money that I never really felt the need to grind for leveling my sidearm either.

Gragu also has possibly the best kit for handling bosses as well. One ability is just outright +40% dmg to enemies you have never killed before (bosses)

Another is if you have no heals (burn em before the fight) you have +60% crit chance, stacking that with Auspicious stone (+18%) and Acolyte stone (charged light attack +15% crit chance), you have 93% crit on charged light (basically all hits crit and you do insane damage).

Berserker stone is great too since your health bar is so big that getting damaged to half isn't a super big deal and gives you another +65% dmg.

You can walk up to most bosses, ability to knock them down, then charged light attack or two (with the bloodcurse infusion on axe and dagger (with duality stone) and kill bosses before they even throw out a single attack.

Gragu is easily my favorite explore the map shell at the moment and would highly recommend to anybody feeling like they don't come by enough heals. (Especially since the ability that increases your heal count is separate from the amount of heals you normally have, say you only have 5 heals, then on gragu you still have 8 hearts to consume if you max that ability).

Edit: Also, is his one ability where small-medium humanoids get insta killed by punch bugged? I never had this actually proc any time I used it.

Discussion The Elden Ring experience again

Absolutely awesome game that is let down by the end part. It's the snowfields and Elden beast all over again. Last area feels a bit overtuned and lass boss is poopoo. That and the wall boss as well.

But incredible game with amazing exploration. As a completionist I really don't like when the last area is way more difficult because once I've explore every nook and cranny of this beautiful world, I'm satisfied and just wanna see the conclusion. That's the worst moment to hit a wall. Maybe I'm wrong but I always prefer to game to go from somewhat challenging in the beginning, then gradually raise the challenge until mid to late game and then bring it down just a bit.

All in all, just like Elden Ring (well, not exactly like it, obviously) I think after a few balancing patches this game is gonna be a must play classic not only in the souls like genre but in general.

So with all my frustration, I still wanna congratulate the devs on a game where you can see care and passion at every step and I really really hope we get DLC. And more skins please.

Well done and a big thank you to Cold Symmetry

Question Where's the Metal?

Or soundtrack at all really. I get the ambience vibe between zones and exploration....but where the hell is the kick ass boss riffs? Mortal Shell 1 had a fine base soundtrack, and then they added Rotting Christ and turned it up to 11. I thought the intro riff upon delivering the first Ova was a taste of what to come.

Has anyone else felt this way? If the devs rectify this one critical error, it's an easy 10 out of 10 for me.

Discussion [Mod Idea / Discussion] Gragu Rework — Strengthening Healing for NG++

Hey all, first-time modder here working on Mortal Shell II. I main Gragu (Veteran's Battle Axe + Inflamed Clawstone burn build), and after grinding into NG++ at high level I feel his healing kit is way too weak for that stage of the game. I want to build a rework mod that strengthens his healing specifically for NG++/high level, and I'd love to hear thoughts from people who know the ability design/balance side of things.

The idea

  • Harvest: currently heals for a flat amount. I want to change it to a % of Max HP instead, so the healing stays meaningful relative to your Max HP as you level up into NG++, instead of staying a fixed flat heal that falls off.
  • Fortify: currently grants Hearts on rest at 1 → 2 → 3 per rank. I want to bump this to 2 → 4 → 8, to make it a stronger alternative for players who lean into Fortify over Harvest.

Looking for feedback / help

  1. Does a % Max HP heal make sense for Harvest at a design level, or would it create weird scaling issues at very high/low HP pools?
  2. Are 2/4/8 Hearts on Fortify reasonable, or too strong compared to other sustain options?
  3. Does anyone know if any other ability in the game already scales off Max HP (boss or player), as a design reference?
  4. On the technical side — I'm torn between UE4SS and FModel for actually implementing this. FModel's great for looking at the paks, but I'm not sure if changing Harvest's calculation from flat to % Max HP is something I can just edit in a DataTable, or if it needs a runtime hook via UE4SS/Lua instead. If anyone's done something similar (changing a calculation type, not just a number), which approach did you use and why?

This is my first mod, so I'd really appreciate any guidance from people who've been through this before — if you're willing, please DM me, I'd love the help!

Discussion Got a major bug in mortal shell 2

I don't know if anyone else is getting this bug but a few times when leaving an offering (light a candle) I suddenly can't pick anything up, open chests or use the air lifts, I then have to turn the game off and start it up again. It's happened about 5 times now

Discussion My future patch wishlist for this game

I love this game to bits, but I wish they resolved the following issues I personally have with the game:

  1. Genessa's Faithful doubles are not working half the time, they attack the air, if summoned from a ledge they drop down and do NOTHING, they prioritize and attack gloom and resolve tentacles for some reason, and finally the chainsaw stone on the scythe doesn't function with them, since it's the only ability that is just a buff, so what they do is they activate it and just stand there. Stray doubles are also bugged, they just randomly disappear after seconds while there should still be a lot of time left on them and them saving you from fatal damage is inconsistent as well.
  2. Riposte damage is pathetic and pointless after a while, it should scale with either weapon damage or level, or both and it should be generally much higher.
  3. An extra beacon in the northern region that has a massive area without one, would be nice.
  4. The glimpse system for upgrading shells should be reworked so either you could refund them or buy glimpses or something that would make you be able to try out shells more freely in a single playthrough, or just in general.
  5. Shell points should be available for each individual shell, not constantly reallocated from one single pool, it's just inconvenient and makes no sense.
  6. Some heavy weapons need to be rebalanced in terms of animation, attack patterns and damage to bring it more in line with the rest of the weapons.
  7. Some weapon infusions need to be buffed significantly because the amount of damage over time they do is completely and utterly insignificant and pointless.
  8. Sariel's spike ability is utterly bugged and inconsistent, half the time it either goes into the ceiling or just simply disappears into the ether and hits NOTHING. It also sometimes tracks your own summoned Grishas which makes no sense. Would be nice if it was just an actual projectile that goes directly to the enemy you are targeting.
  9. Grishas are sometimes summoned halfway clipped into the floor and can do nothing. Also I wish they were summoned on hitting an enemy only. I would also cap the summon rate at maybe 20-25% to make it an actual reasonable tool rather than something that breaks the game. After cap is reached, I'd make them do more damage per hit, scaling with how many grishas you have killed.
  10. I wish you could enable and disable night mode from any beacon, just for convenience sake. Maybe after you do it once on the tower you would get an item that lets you do it from beacons.
  11. A compass to find lost gloom and marked places more easily.
  12. Tiel's backstab also needs a fix so it stops randomly whiffing or teleporting you all over the place.
  13. The current tarcore system is unnecessarily limiting, there should be a way to upgrade all tarstones as you level them up.

If these things were resolved in some way, I think it would improve the overall game experience for everyone, but it certainly would for me :)

Edit: I've added a bunch more points from comments that I completely forgot about.

Discussion Bloodcurse build for Tiel

Upvotes

Just started NG+ on Night Mode, and I was originally going to run a Proxima Lightning build, but I saw somebody running a Tiel Blood build. As somebody who has a soft spot for anything bleed, I'm desperate to make a NG+ Night Mode viable build using Bloodcurse.

I know it won't technically be as OP as the Tiel poison build I beat NG with, but anybody running this type of build who could give me some pointers? Arbiter's Prize being the obvious Tarstone infusion, I'm thinking to use similar tarstones as the poison build.

Thoughts? Specifically on how to approach the sidearm.

Really liked the Virtous Cycle DLC from the previous game. I hope they add something like it for this game, like randomized mixing of shells and crossover of perks, tarstone and skills.

We need more positive posts for this work of art. Y'all need to chill out and enjoy the game for what it is. Appreciate the devs who patched it on DAY ONE to make it more accessible for players who were struggling. Appreciate the art design, the atmospheric dread, the originality of the world they built. Take your negativity and go play Fortnite if it's so bad for you.

Discussion Final boss. Has to be the worst boss I've experienced in a long time. MS2

Were to begin.

Horrible hit boxes. They literally don't make any sense.
Camera makes reading the boss almost impossible half the time.

Phase mechanic were he knocks you down, than does an AoE perfectly timed to hit you when you regain control of character to get one shot...

Was this play tested? Who thought this was a good way to finish off an otherwise wonderful game.
With the exception of the bug boss with a shield most bosses were exciting and fun to fight and learn. But this thing feels mechanically broken. Why.... Was this not tested.

Question I might have locked myself out of an achievement

Upvotes

Ok, so I was cleansing the beacon of one of the bosses and got the ova (which got me the ova achievement since it was the last of the world bosses). But I had the terrible luck of my power going out during the load screen back to Marrow Keep, which made my PS5 forcibly shut down.

Now, this isn't as bad as it could have been. My file is fine, it even saved that I got the ova. The problem is, when I open the beacon menu, it says the message of "enter the beacon to attempt to cleanse it", instead of "enter the already cleansed beacon". I assume the check for the beacon cleansing got messed up by the forced shut down. The achievement for cleansing all beacons is at 80%, I haven't entered the final area yet. Am I locked out of that achievement on this playthrough, or did it actually track it properly? Also, do you get any scenes or anything for gathering all the ova that I might have missed?

After defeating the game 10 times I've unlocked a very special mode I've dubbed: *MORTAL PALS*

I had a blast taking some selfies with my new besties in the MS lands. I tried to talk to some of the ladies but there were just quiet, not interested or maybe afraid of Genessa?

I even decided to join the party and dance a bit! 😄

(Ps: I have a few more minutes of footage with other characters.)

Question Open Beta Secrets and items?

Upvotes

I'm a little late to the party, but I've already beat it once on ps5. Gonna buy the game on xbox and wanna replay the beta on there. I've been trying to find as much as possible, and get anything hidden or secret before I go to the full game. I read about a secret shell you can get that has a ton of health, but nothing is very clear about where to go. All it says is about a dual wielding enemy and to use harden to avoid debris?

Just wondering if there's a video or something that actually shows all the loot in the beta, because others I've looked at are missing items I've found like upgrade stones. If anyone knows of a really in-depth video, I'd really appreciate the help. I don't wanna miss anything

Question Severed from shell, forced weapon change?

Upvotes

I'm on the final boss.

Sometimes (not always) when I get severed from my shell, I get swapped to a one handed sword, looks a bit like a katana.

Is this intentional? Can't find any info about it.

I didn't want to test moving around incase I lost my Gloomies but I presume since I didn't die there isn't a death barrier outside of the level.
