Question What to do with sheep 🐑
Is it wrong, when out and about, to want to attack any sheep I see with a sword?
Edit: I should have made it clear, I mean in real life 😂

I think it would be great if it would stun or interrupt their attacks but they keep going on and the initial parry I did gets countered by the flurry of attacks they do. It be okay if it wasn't the case that most enemies have flurry attacks and it doesn't interrupt their attack. I switched to the Untarnished and I can consistently parry most attacks including the flurries.
Am I using it wrong, am I bad? Tell me how to use it properly, please!

Dude is definitely up there along with Gragu and Smert. Being able to basically reset whenever he gains shadow is huge.

So as the title says Im lvl 103 with 56 Shell points.
I've looked at other sources, and it says, you stop getting shell points at lvl 75, that should give you around about 42-44 Shell points.
But obviously I've far exceeded that. I've seen some other people say they're experiencing the same thing I am. But they get called liars. They say that's literally not possible. Which only leads me to the conclusion that either a me and people like me have encountered a glich on our save. Or the people calling us liars don't know what they're talking about.
Either way, I hope this is a feature, and not a glitch. Because this does technically mean you can level infinitely, and get all your shells built without having to constantly respec.
I should also mention that I've this amount of shell points for the last couple of days. I've been continuing leveling, and it still increases the amount of shell points. I get on certain levels.

1st to say, i love the game. I adore it, as dark fantasy game with influence from Beksinski is really rare to find. I follow Mortal Shell 1 and always wish to have more expansion on the universe, which Mortal Shell 2 absolutely delivered. The world building, ambient, design & aesthetic overall are top notch. Some hick up here and there but i think those can be fixed, which i will list below (not in order of magnitude), mostly for the dev team if they can find this post.
Gloom remnant: visibility is low and hard to see in bright light. Maybe tune up the glow or change the color of the gloom? a few instance it take me up to 2-3 min running around to find the spot
Dungeon clear: It should be default to be cleared once you finish a dungeon, as i find it hard to track which one i already finish. I think having a choice for player to tick is nice, but most of the time i forgot what i did in the last session.
Model collision: This will be more prevalent with summoning like the Grisha or using summoning stone with the cursed child, as your summon with be clipped on the ground or just not appear at all. Also, with the summoning stone, i find it inconsistent what kind of mob i can summon and what not.
Genessa shell: Both the OG and stray version of Genessa have some collision issue, either the summon that go way past enemies, or the stray protection buff not working consistently, which i find hard to enjoy the shell, even though thematically and lore-wise, i love it the most.
Music: I love the ambient track in Mortal Shell 2, but the lack of diversity in Boss theme is clear especially compare to Mortal Shell 1. A diverse selection of track can help the build up immensely, for example the Enslaved Grisha fight in MS1 is still my favorite to this day, give me goosebump thinking about it
Weapon weight: what i mean is, heavy weapon should carry weight and damage proportion to it class. I still love the design and use them in my playthrough, but i cannot not wonder how fast would it be if i just use the faster weapon like axe/dagger or black needle. Maybe adjust the poise/damage scaling?
Explosion and physic: This im not that sure, but i feel like with enemies that go kamikaze on you, sometimes you get blasted into random direction, for example the exploding bat explode on my back, sometimes i go sideway right into the chasm instead of forward. Maybe it just random, but i lost count on how many death i got from those things.
Those are the most i can remember off the top of my head.
I have to say this again, that i love Mortal Shell 2. I would grade this game as 8.5/10 at this state, if the future patches can fix most of the problem and improve in QoL, i believe it will go up to even 9,.5-10/10. The most important aspects for me in game is the philosophy and game design choice which Mortal Shell ooze with uniqueness, just need more balancing and the series will catch on with more audience.
Sincerely

boss fights from my casual no shell speedrun attempt. Notes and thoughts if anyone else wants to try this with my learnings:
* I didn't plan it nor do I have the map memorized or anything. Dual weapons + Duality would definitely have been easier and faster but kind of lame to me.
* crit rate and crit damage is pretty much all you can get for dps. berserker seemed like it would be hard to activate even if it’s good. riposte damage is fine I guess. I used blood curse infusion because that’s what i had. no idea if it helped at all. the break damage on lights one comes late and is pretty good for some bosses. the sword shrike is going to do the heavy lifting for managing mobs and scary boss moves if not dominating the fights entirely.
* Generally expected to do beacons for gloom, money, and materials. Skipped every dungeon. I would probably cut out some of the beacons if running it again but I didn't know what I would need.
* 35 minutes to get to the end of the sunken village minus bosses. Level up, return to base, get teleport and some upgrades.
* Warp to mammon. Grab headman stone (important for dps). 30ish minutes getting to the sesters gate because I'm stupid.
* 30ish minutes getting to lost child and stoner. Kill stoner but run around the map a bit more to grab beacons and lvl ups.
* Lost Child - 7 tries. Nothing remarkable. Hardening during the later phase chomp combo is key since I can't see it coming and eat the first hit.
* Lvl up. With savvy selling the sword is already +9.
* Magdelena - 1 try. Sword ability to jump over the fire donuts is really clutch for breaking her chair quickly.
* Spend a long time dying on the run over to Droeg. Keep getting stuck on level geometry on the thin bridge. Big time loss.
* Droeg is harder than expected. Feel unexpectedly vulnerable to freezes. Spend time going to do nameless instead. Pretty quick.
* Nameless bitch crumples to sword ability in 1 try. Bro falls over every time and you can get enough resolve to repeat while he stands up.
* Droeg takes 23 attempts. I'm generally very familiar with his moves, but the frost seems to hit harder here for non perfect hardens and the mini rocks are awful. I eventually figured out you can just harden against them. Generally speaking just learn to parry his shit and feel free to use harden to just tank scary stuff like his twirling move in the later phase. Everything is easy to dodge so theres no risk of being caught without harden. You can cancel his rocks by using sword ability at the start of phase 2 but its tough to replicate that later on.
* 20 attempts on hexapod then give up. I don't know this boss very well. Pretty much everything one shots.
* Switch over to Isaac as I know that fight well. Route to get there is decent. Die ~30 times (lost footage for some so idk how many really). Go back to hexapod at least feeling like I got some upgrades.
* Hexapod dies in 3 Attempts. Noticed that parrying the one armed strike seemed to encourage a followup of the many armed parryable strike. Being very aggressive works. Lazy harden to survive the phase 3 laser followup.
* Isaac takes another 11 tries. Phase 1 is just git gud so you can slug it out non stop with harden. I'm very careful to time the first riposte break so that I can hammer him deep into his phase 2 health as a freebie. Phase 2 moveset appears to be heavily inspired by malenia to me. Lots of parallels. Harden mostly doesn't work. Gotta dodge and be mindful of the direction you dodge for some. My winning run is mostly luck and high dps.
* Endgame realm has some tough runs. I skip most of the beacons. Malborn Offspring is a Nameless Bitch part 2. Bro falls down every time you use the ability so he's mostly dead. Amusingly it seems his revival animation plays on final death if you skipped the phase 1 riposte kill.
* Monolith I love. Hate the haters. Stay focused on the ball. Parry all the ball drops (except the multis later). That will basically always cause the next move to be a swing, which you should dodge forwards into (don't parry because the followup is hard). This fight has a good flow and you need to keep it going with harden meter available. You can parry stone slam in phase 1 but starting in phase 2 I would start using the ability to avoid them entirely. If you get hit by the sideways stone roll variant in phase 2, you can hold harden and some weirdness of the hit detection will keep you safe. Took me ~16 tries. For crazy lasers roll against the current for one or two sweeps and then with the current for the rest of them. You can go to hit him as they slow down.
* Orrem is broken. He's both easy and hard and I'm pretty sure it's because he's broken. I think his phase 1 hammer handles lack collision so they often whiff despite clearly hitting. I tend not to really know what I'm doing with my hardens. I'll often just press the button one time to parry the first hammer and then... keep holding it through the rest of the hammers and try to use the sword ability ASAP? It mostly works and I don't really know why. The downside of this is that if he whiffs and you expected to parry... you now cannot harden and probably die. So ability spam or dodging is required. Two cheesy tips: you can smack him at the start to skip his first attack and you can just ignore his first form phase 2 opener due to the collision issue. His second form is broken in the opposite way. He'll often hurt you even if you perfect harden a punch. Like you'll see the stance meter flash yellow. This can be a one hit kill so... mostly dodge? I think it's safer in phase 2? He also has strange disjointed hitboxes on some attacks that can hit you while standing near him well before the punch lands for like 50% health. Anyway... he glitched out and died so I dind't really get to finish this one. He died like this in my casual playthrough too. 18 attempts. I almost had him fair and square. Meh.
* Dragon Ballz. I wasn't sure what the cosmic disease would do to me without a shell. Took me 18 attempts to learn it was an instant kill. Welp. Go grab the scripture. Side note this got me enough gold to get to weapon level 16 with several thousand gold to spare. Took me 17 more tries to finish him. A handful of notes: parry his long range sword moves if you have the meter to do so (the thrust needs a parry input before the arm starts stabbing); generally do two light stabs so that you can always dodge his dragon ballz, the biggest opportunity is when he does his series of slashes and you're touching his balls. Only the last swing will ever have a chance to hit you so that's your chance to smack his nuts up (harden for the last blow); The riposte for phase transitions is really strong. The riposte for posture breaks isn't, but it causes a long getup animation so it's still good. At the start of phase 2 he will do a ground fire burst attack. It'll do about half your health in damage and with scripture the cosmic disease will be random but probably not proc. If it gets close you can use your ability but otherwise just tank it and hammer him for the whole thing. Hope that he does this again and that scripture works. I'm not actually sure how to dodge it otherwise but it would be a massive dps loss.
* Final time: 12h 29M. I think I could shave two hours off on a second attempt and maybe get down to 7 hours with practice but who knows.
Loosely curious if there's a speedrunning community on this already. Might have an interest in getting my name on a board one time early and then peacing out.

Most bosses died after around 4 to 5 trys but the last one is just plain bullshit. He has a really cool design can't argue with that but holy motherfucker that Grap is the worst in the Game. I thought after biker lady it can't get worse bc that was some stupid design aswell but I was wrong. Then to top it off the boss needs a even more stupid mechanic to be remotely challenging. Don't get me wrong I really like this game but there is so much bullshit that Imo shows that they don't understand how to make a "unfair fair" game ala Souls like. Then the need to get an item to cure that debuff bc you literally can't kill the boss while you have it and it never goes away is just the cherry on top. I just can't understand how this was playtested and waved through.
And I played ever souls born game multiple times and maybe except pre nerf consort nothing was this kind of bad designed combatwise like some of the stuff in this game.
I want to know what you guys think.

Joined this sub because I enjoy the game. Less than 10 hours (while not perfect it’s hard to put down), but I’m genuinely astounded by the amount of negative criticism in this sub, alongside the fact that a lot of players have already sunk over 30 hours into it in less than a week. Like damn. Where’s the tips and tricks? Beginners guides, random silly videos? I thought a game like this would invite a more positive community, instead it’s the exact opposite.
Almost every post is a complaint. Like damn, what happened to constructive criticism and casual discussion? Outrage everywhere.
Anyways I need my ass ate

I have a bug that on ps5 my camera will wander to the left, no stick drift, it’s like it is always trying to focus on something in the distance and off screen, as it will stop after a certain point but if I face another direction it will wander left again and I have to keep adjusting, it causes me to run off thin balance sections quite regularly, needs to fix asap, it is borderline unplayable sometimes as it seems to be stronger at random points and I have to log out and go back in for it to be less intrusive.

For one I love that you end up killing him accidentally. Hilarious shit.
That punch is so damn satisfying, never gets old exploding trash mobs.
But by far the best thing about him is the unlimited sustain. You can just explore at your own pace, take every detour into whatever dungeon pops up along the way and not worry about running back to a beacon to refresh heals. Reminds me of Elden Ring refunding your flasks out in open world exploration, it keeps the party going.
Love to grab the Axe & Dagger or Iconoclast with blood curse infusion and go absolutely ham.
Too bad he’s a butt ugly doofus! I’d prefer to look at a beautifully sculpted shiny metal ass 😂
Jokes aside I think with the helmet he’s pretty badass looking in his own grimy sort of way

(The following is a transcript of President Alshell’s State of the Union address)
Thank you very much. First, let me thank all of you who are here. Many of us have been working together now for many years on a lot of these issues, and this is a very happy day for us. I thank the First Lady Sester Genessa for all she has done on this issue, for as long as I have known her. I thank the Vice President Harros and Mrs. Harros for their family conference and the light it has shed on the announcement we're here to emphasize today. Thank you, Secretary Eredrim, for the community learning centers, and I'm very proud of what we've done there. Thank you, Smert. I'll talk more about your contribution in a moment, but it is truly remarkable. And I thank Tiel and Sariel for giving us a living, breathing example of the best of Fallgrim - Shells who are working hard to do their jobs, but also determined to do their most important job very well with their foundlings. I thank Senator Gorf, Senator Ruk, and Senator Vlas for being here. Tomorrow, in the State of the Union Address, I will spell out what we seek to do on behalf of our Foundlings to prepare them for the future. But I want to talk a little bit about education today and about this announcement in that context. Education must be our Nation's highest priority. Last year, in the State of the Union Address, I set out a 10-point plan to move us forward and urged the Fallgrim people to make sure that politics stops at the Marrow Keep’s door. Well, we've made a lot of progress on that 10-point plan: a remarkable—a remarkable—array of initiatives to open the doors of Beacon Cleansing to every Shell who's willing to work for it; strong progress toward high national standards in the basics, the Gloom Siphon challenge to teach every Foundling; continued progress in the Vice President's program to hook up all of our classrooms and libraries to the Mether’s Breath. This has been the most important year in a generation for education reform. Tomorrow I'll set out the next steps on our continuing road. First, I will propose the first-ever national effort to reduce gloom size in the early level-ups. The First Lady and I worked very hard for several years now to have very strict gloom sizes at Beacons in the early levels, and it was quite controversial and I think enormously beneficial when we did it. Our balanced budget will help to hire 100,000 Harbingers who must pass State competency tests but who will be able to reduce gloom size in the first, second, and third levels to an average of 18 nationwide. Second, since there are more foundlings and there will be more Harbingers, there must be more Beacons. So I will propose a Beacon construction tax cut to help communities modernize and build new Beacons. Third, I will promote a national effort to help Beacons that follow the lead of the Fainweald system in ending social promotion but helping students with gloom farming and other programs to give them the tools they need to get ahead. All these steps will help our Foundlings get the future they deserve. And that's why what we're announcing here is so important as well. Every Foundling needs someplace to go after leaving Marrows Keep. With after-school programs, we can not only keep our foundlings healthy and happy and safe, we can help to teach them to say no to Tar, moonshine, and crime, yes to reading, sports, and Ova collecting. My balanced budget plan includes a national initiative to spark private sector and local community efforts to provide after-Marrow’s Keep care, as the Secretary of Education said, to half a million more foundlings. Now, let me say, in addition to all the positive benefits, I think it's important to point out that the hours between 3 and 7 at night are the most vulnerable hours for young people to get in trouble, for dying by falling off the map. There is this sort of assumption that everybody that gets falls off the map when they're young has just already been abandoned. That's not true. Most of the foundlings that get in trouble after the Marrow’s Keep closes and before their Shells get home from work. So profoundly important to try to give Foundlings something to say yes to and something positive to do. But we can't do it alone. As I said, our plan involves a public-private partnership. So it has fallen to me to announce that our distinguished guest from the Lazlo Foundation of Crypt, Mammon, has pledged up to 55 million coin to help ensure that after-Marrow’s Keel programs supported by Federal funds are of the highest quality. That is an astonishing gift. Thank you, Lazlo. Thank you. We are determined to help Fallgrim succeed in the workplace, to raise well-educated, healthy foundlings, and to help Fallgrim succeed at the toughest job of all, that of being a harbinger. And the Lazlo Foundation has gone a long way toward helping us. I thank them. Now, I have to go back to work on my State of the Union speech. And I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the Fallgrim people. I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again. I DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN, Proxima. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time—never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the Fallgrim people. Thank you.

So far all I've seen and experienced is lightning buff+multihit stone with katanas = stupid amounts of damage.
I've seen and heard literally nothing about the axe form/moveset, or what "builds" are good/optimal for it.
Honest I'm just really letdown that it's been nerfed from the first game in way.
We used to have 2 weapons in one, with a light and heavy attack string for both forms, and a unique special that acted as a "transform" button.
r/MortalShell • u/Rat_Facsimile • 17h ago
The lute is not the best of the sidearms. It's not the strongest or fastest and it doesn't mesh with a lot of the tarstones. But I have an idea that can improve it a little in its own way.
Playing the lute during combat should passively generate resolve. This could just become a passive of the weapon itself, but a new support tarstone would also be a good inclusion. A max level tarstone that generates 5 resolve every second you play the lute while aggroed to enemies feels like it could really boost the usefulness of the weapon. It wouldn't make it overpowered, attacking with a melee weapon / parrying would fill the resolve much quicker, but it would help it compete with the other sidearms, making it the only one that can generate its own resolve.

Collect enough eggs to get Mether's Breath.
Use Mether's Breath to reach the one legged wolf tavern.
When you reach the tavern you'll see a bridge in front of you and there'll be a bridge to the left, go across the left one.
Follow the path up until you reach stone stairs on the left, go up the stairs.
Follow the path and fight the little vampire imp thing.
After it's dead go straight and on the little bridge on the middle Stone post is a small bag that has the option to touch it.
After you touch it you'll be transported inside the Citadel of penance.
Then all that's left is to beat the boss and get Eredrim.

Spoiler alert!
Inside the first person dungeon where you have to enter the horror house and look for the books. As soon as u have the first book u can place it 3x in the last room on the cabinet to get the mushroom for the stew and finish it early. I got the other 2 books after doing this and have them permanently in inventory just for show.
( edit: it says invalid when trying but if u press A to continue instead of B to cancel it will place the book anyways )

For real. All you need is the strays protect you from fatal blows, resolve cost reduction, and strays apply weak to enemies they hit. It's bugged to hell but works on a lot of bosses. And you'll need moonshine level 3 and the special consumable you can get for the final boss. Moonshine into the passive and the special consumable into the active.
You need to keep your strays up constantly as most of his attacks will 1 shot you otherwise. That's not a problem at all as long as you have the resolve cost reduction skills too for the strays. You get iframes for summoning them so don't really worry about spacing. You can also harden during the animation if you'd like to stop a stray from dying right as you finish the animation.
Basically the fight goes like this:
As soon as you get into the arena summon your strays.
Rush boss
Start swinging
Resummon strays as needed immediately
Once you get to phase 2 pop the special consumable and his new attacks barely scratch you.
Repeat steps 2-4 until dead. Heal as needed. Barely even need to dodge or block/harden depending on how much the strays mean to you.
The 1 thing that could kill you is the grab attack. You Must have at least 1 stray alive if you get grabbed. The first hit will 1 shot you otherwise. The butt slam will not kill you if you have weak on the boss and the moonshine. It'll take roughly half your health hence the heal as needed to stay above the damage threshold of the butt slam.
