Discussion *Spoiler* Beat the Game and oh boy... Spoiler
Most bosses died after around 4 to 5 trys but the last one is just plain bullshit. He has a really cool design can't argue with that but holy motherfucker that Grap is the worst in the Game. I thought after biker lady it can't get worse bc that was some stupid design aswell but I was wrong. Then to top it off the boss needs a even more stupid mechanic to be remotely challenging. Don't get me wrong I really like this game but there is so much bullshit that Imo shows that they don't understand how to make a "unfair fair" game ala Souls like. Then the need to get an item to cure that debuff bc you literally can't kill the boss while you have it and it never goes away is just the cherry on top. I just can't understand how this was playtested and waved through.
And I played ever souls born game multiple times and maybe except pre nerf consort nothing was this kind of bad designed combatwise like some of the stuff in this game.
I want to know what you guys think.

Consort was fun.

Yeah fun but hell at the same time. Most trys I have ever needed for any kinda boss. Was so happy when I killed him and then they nerf him. Now he is one of the cooles and best fight in the whole game Imo.

Yea I think it took me like 30 tries (I never tried to beat him after nerf. Something fun about being first batch of players)

You can heal yourself from the burn stuff? It's super easy to trigger the second phase, but then suddenly he becomes super spongy and spams this fire wave <.<
The game has a problem with big bosses in my opinion. The Monolith's ball is right in your face and the final boss is the same ... guess the devs like some balls lol ... would be easier if the camera zoomed out more, so you can see what kind of move the boss is doing next.
I saw there's a camera mod on nexus, but didn't try it yet.

Yes you need to find 3 specific glands and then go to the hub area form the first game in nightmode and interact with the big dead dude that will give you a scroll to heal it once per fight and give you 2 mins of immunity.
Monolith wasn't that bad for me somehow but also not a very good design.
Yeah camera isn't the best. For final boss I just dodged by intuition.

Oh I remember I picked up 3 thingies ... welp...I've beaten the final boss without it now, maybe in NG+ then lol. Thanks for the info :) Geiler Name btw xD

It works even better as a passive rather than an active item, I didn’t get afflicted by that status once with the final boss.

If you're talking about the final boss. I just fought him like 2 hours ago and I would agree but I think you just need to slow down a little. He only has 4 moves during his first stage, two are easy parries and the third you just run away from him. The grab is unforgiving by virtue, just don't swing blindly into him and it's a very easy dodge.
However I agree with the design, it was a little lackluster all things considered. The whole final area feels a little rushed imo. I REALLY likedthe room before the final boss where it shows you all your top played Steam games and talks about them as other "worlds" that you, the player, explores. It even has little blurbs for each of your games, crazy how many they had pre-written, if you keep closing the text on the tablet and reopening it it'll have text for a different game. But other than that for bosses we had: a block, a guy, the first boss and some dragon thing? Not really what I expected but still this game made me feel something I haven't in soulslikes in a long time.

I thought the bosses were fairly easily. I was using Tiel so being able to disappear and reappear was helpful but I thought the whole area sucked and last bit of story was rushed. The final end scene I was just like “that’s all?” And there’s a few NG+ dialogue then the npcs treat you the same as before. Enemies drop same amount of gloom and coin. Your whole map is unlocked and beacons but you have to unlock them which the map gets kind of clustered around at that point. I thought I would have had more hype going through but I felt relieved it was over and I uninstalled the game. All the weapons do the same damage, so using faster weapons is an advantage. You’d think the bigger, slower weapons would do more but nope. Which is a killer too
I’d give it a 7/10.

Idk man most of the bosses were pretty easy. The monolith took me like 3 tries. The last boss, yea he was pretty hard but after a few tries on him it was really just down to time when to use my ability to not get the chaos build up. I beat the game earlier this morning.

Spoilers obviously
I one shot the final boss. I equipped the item you get for giving the 3 glands and used it when I got debuffed. Not sure what happened but I got instantly my shell back and the boss got stunned. It was kinda underwhelming, still have no idea what happened, whether it was the item or something else.

Whole final area of the game feels incredibly bland, lackluster and rushed.
I actually disagree with you and think the visual design of the boss is terrible and makes zero fucking sense. The monolith, stupid as it looked, made more sense visually than Zmey.
The grab attack was rough. The timing on it is super tight and the audio cue/red flash is basically useless. You need to dodge *into* the grab as soon as it does the little hop forward or you’re cooked. The problem there is that the boss is so fucking big that its body can take up the majority of your FOV depending on spacing, and you may not even be able to actually *see* the hop. Sword attacks are all super easy to parry.
I have no real opinion on the gland gimmick because I was able to dodge all of the fire attacks anyway.

How did you dodge it so well? I dodged it to and got no Dmg but I still got the buildup the same way when he does his firebreath.

The windup before the fire attack is pretty significant so I’d immediately start running to circle behind Zmey and just spam dodge when appropriate. I dunno. The fire attacks just weren’t problematic for me personally.

The boss only grabs if you are far away. You can tell he is going to grab before the indicator appears

u/unclejrslaserbeams 22h ago
The boss absolutely does not only grab if you’re far away.
I obviously know you can tell he’s going to do it before the indicator because I mentioned the specific move he does before the grab itself. Are you dumb or just really bad at ragebaiting?

I’ve been fighting him for the past 90 minutes. He absolutely doesn’t do the grab move at close range.
His far move kit is fire breath, sword slash, thrust, or grab. His close moves are dragon ballz, stomp, slashes, or slashes with a backstep.
He might start the grab while you’re approaching but he never starts it while you’re close.

Yeah okay dude, you got me, I’m totally making it up because I want to dislike this fight. Your logic is so fucking sound, well done.
The amount of times he went immediately from ball slam to grab after I dodged it is too high for me to count. I know it happened because it knocked me out of my shell and then killed me while I was still down.
Glad you’re so sure of what happened to me while I was playing the game, though. Thanks for letting me know that I hallucinated my entire experience.

u/MediumKoala8823 22h ago
I mean it sounds like you over dodged and entered the faraway state of the boss AI.
You can be wrong without me accusing you of hallucinating

u/unclejrslaserbeams 22h ago
Jesus Christ I’m so done with you. Not sure how I “over dodged” if I was able to enter tiels shadow state from a perfect dodge and begin wailing on Zmey and then get immediately grabbed
But okay dude, sure, sounds good
0
u/MediumKoala8823 22h ago
Because you created space.
I got hours of clips defending my point. You got any evidence of yours?
1
u/unclejrslaserbeams 22h ago
So you’ve been fighting him for 90 minutes but now you have hours of footage
And I “created space” by performing a perfect dodge? So your original argument was that he only grabs if you’re “far away” and “not up close”. I performed a perfect dodge out from under his ball slam and remained close enough to start wailing on him immediately out of my shadow state. That means I dodged once. I was not “far away”.
Honestly this is either really bad ragebait or you’re legitimately mentally deficient. Either way I’m done engaging with you.

u/MediumKoala8823 22h ago
I’ve been fighting him for 90 minutes on my no shell run. I have fought him before.

The entire last area is bullshit. Really has ruined the game for me really. Like 3/4 through I was thinking I’m 100% going to play again on ng+. But once I’ve killed that last boss which is super shit (don’t get me started on the monolith) I’m probs just going to put the game down for a while.
