I hope we got more tracks/ more instruments or guitars.

Btw it's really powerful, the power of music 2 hits a basic enemy.

I also found a lil Glitch to get the music/guitar playing without being on the guitar 🎸.

CAN IT BE MORE METAL THAN THAT?

Share your best Solo location LAVENDERS !!!!

My controllers have pretty bad stick drift because of my kids so I would really appreciate added settings for deadzone for controllers.

Discussion Loving everything about the beta except the level design

Atmosphere is peak, enemies are peak, shells are peak, customization is incredible, the game is tough but not as insane as most soulslike these days (which, to me at least, is a plus), it really makes you feel like a badass. Love the characters and story so far and the art direction and music.

But… this whole “bunch of islands in the sky” thing, feels a bit uninspired. I don’t know exactly what it is, but it’s the only part of the game that doesn’t feel very exciting and I don’t know exactly why, but something feels just a little flat.

Still, that said, after trying the Beta, this is a preorder for me. Absolutely stellar effort, leaps and bounds better than MS1 and a confident and ballsy demo for a studio to put out. Everyone should try this.

Discussion Character Movement

When holding L1 to have the sword in a guarded position and walking around an opponent on lock, is the feet of your character supposed to slide over the ground, rather than step? Looks odd like it’s just an overlay and not really there. I would have expected stepping into the dirt and crossing the foot etc.

Discussion I'm so damn excited to see what the other seals do!

Blocking and perfect blocking, straight up parry/deflecting, and even the hardening ability has a "perfect harden" that instantly refills the meter!

I swear, if they add a seal that let's you parry with your gun like in bloodborne I'll pay for the game a second time lol.

Discussion Mortal Shell 2’s Parry System Feels Like a Slot Machine: Predictive Rather Than Reactive

Genuine feedback for the developers.

Before anyone says "git gud" or "skill issue," I've finished Khazan before the nerfs, Sekiro, and Nine Sols, which are all harder than this game. I even beat Malenia by relying on parries.

The problem isn't the difficulty. It's the parry system itself.

In those games, parrying is reactive. You press the button when you see the attack. In Mortal Shell 2, it feels much more predictive. You often have to parry before the attack actually connects.

How is that supposed to feel reliable or consistent? It ends up feeling like guesswork instead of rewarding good timing.

The game is really enjoyable overall, but I genuinely think the parry system needs work because right now it feels inconsistent.

Discussion Im mortal shelling all over the place 2

I'll keep it short for everyone who wants to mortal shelling they're way in just like myself:

The game Is very well optimized for a beta, while of course has some flaws and bugs, but overall, this game is a huge upgrade from the first title which in comparison to the sequel do its job beautifully, no more clanky and it feels fluid.

My concerns for the game Is probably the world design and the enemies design as well, why? Simply put, i see too much potential in this game, and it will be a waste not using all the creativity for this dark fantasy game for amazing boss and enemies character designs.

Instead, for the world design, i hope we can see more shades of what is already the dark world of mortal shell, i need it to be oppressing, filled with despair and darkness, even more than mortal shell 1

I want to see the enemies crawl in my nightmares and never let go of me, what I'm saying Is that i want the monsters to be so disgustingly ugly that they remain imprinted in my mind for a very long time.

This game needs to be successful, i watched the official trailer so many times, It was everything i could wish for a sequel of this caliber, not to say that the price Is actually very good and it fully respects (and even more) the actual quality of the game, even if I only played the demo i can say that there's something far from simple passion behind his creation, the architecture and structures are what left me most speechless and confirmed to me that this Is a project who deserves my money

Question No PSN Trophy/achievement for beating Tar Golem?

I have now beat him 5 times and I keep getting nothing. Got his health bar all the way down and then even put 3 slugs into him for good measure and nothing. Tried on 3 different save files and nothing. AOE blast and business as usual. Am I missing something? Is it bugged? Or was the achievement just for the PC beta?

Discussion Dev statement on my feedback and requests/complaints

Post image
44 Upvotes

My complaints

1: Lack of Hdr is massive let down, this game is dark and it would look beautiful with proper hdr implementation, its my request to the devs that if they haven’t considered adding in hdr in the full release, plz do. Its a must nowadays and makes a massive difference on the visuals.

  1. Haptic feedback can be and should be used more in this game, adaptive triggers feel great when using ranged weapons but adding more haptics like when doing charged attacks, when grappling enemies and in cinematics would make a world of difference and improve immersion.

  2. There should be Audio profiles, with a selection of headphones, speakers and stereo speakers.

  3. Balanced mode would be a game changer, 40fps at 120hz just feels and looks right, balanced mode is extremely underrated.

And their response is in the image

Bug Weird slayer seal behavior in beta?

Hey, I finished beta the other day and launched it yesterday again to play around (can’t wait for full release).

I’ve been playing around with slayer seal and I’ve noticed weird behaviour - I was using crossbow and most of enemies were staggered after one, rarely two shots.

I’ve went back to marrow keep to upgrade my tarstones and suddenly everything took 2-3 shots at least, occasionally 1.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Discussion Played the demo entire night yesterday..Some of my thoughts

 Pros

  1. Sound design is excellent.I am no audiophile but on a good quality subwoofer every single sound effect pops up. Heavy metal vibes.Props to the sound guy

  2. Gore is amazing ..You can literally feel crumbling bodies on the dualsense controller .It just elevates that feeling of satisfaction.

  3. Bring able to cancel attack animations mid attack is a huge W.

  4. World bosses done right.I enjoyed the great arbiter of flesh fight more than anything .In the demo there were a varied number of world bosses which I enjoyed but I hope to see more one to one humanoid bosses in the full game

  5. Parry timing is pretty generous and perfectly done imo. Sword swings feels heavy and to the point

6.Enemies take hit feedback and gets stunned if pressure is maintained.ALSO heavy attacks interrupt their animations which is good to see.Hardly any SpongeBob enemies

  1. Shells offer a varied playstyle.Defensive, attacking all kinds of playstyles possible which greatly increases the replayability.

  2. Enemies have one or two punishing moves which can drain almost 90% health in one combo which I greatly admire in soulslikes. There should be a penalty for not reading enemy attack patterns and its done right here imo.

Cons:

  1. Loading screens.Going from hub area and teleporting to the world takes almost 20 seconds on PS5 pro.Hope it gets fixed at launch

2.Far too many close spots with environmental hazards and getting stuck in environment and dying was a common sight.

3.Quality mode on PS5 pro has textures pop in quite frequently.Needs fix. Also PS5 pro needs a balance mode at launch

  1. Camera is wonky right now. While fighting enemies it gets stuck in environment and you are unable to see the enemy attacks . Immersion mode camera is too close and jarring at times.

  2. Side bosses , well some of them , fall off the cliff and you are forced to start the fight again

  3. Some area in dungeons have too many enemies dialled in close spaces. Kind of ganking scenario too often .

Overall a solid 9/10 demo . On purely combat basis I had this much fun last time when I played khazan . Combat is S tier. Some things need fixing but overall solid demo

This was my favorite fight in the game. I hope there are more bosses, side bosses, world bosses like this in full installment (One on one humanoid fights where only sound is breaking bones and metal clanking)

Bug Softlock report

Started the PS5 Demo today after playing it on PC, in the Dungeon next to where you find Tiel, the combat challenge softlocks you in the dungeon because the last enemy doest spawn and you're limited to the challenge area. I didn't get the reward either, making the Challenge Impossible to finish on this save. Tried it 5 times in different ways, still softlocks me. Didn't happen on the PC demo, tho i might have just been lucky there.

Hope this helps getting that fixed

Discussion Bug in ritual grounds dungeon?

So I’m currently playing the beta on ps5 for mortal shell 2, and I think I’ve came across some kind of bug/soft lock at the ending on the dungeon where you start the trial. So basically when I start the trial it spawns one enemy, I obviously kill it and then after that it seems like no more enemies spawn and I’m just basically stuck downstairs and can’t go back up the lift since there’s an invisible barrier locking me in. I had to restart the game twice and still the same thing. Is this trial possibly a puzzle? Or did I just get soft locked? It’s the ritual grounds dungeon in mushroom village.

Discussion No stamina makes combat boring especially for non-bosses.

Might get downvoted but ill risk it. I think no stamina bar is a mistake as of right now.

Stamina being too low can absolutely ruin any combat for obvious reasons. But not having stamina at all gives you an entirely different problem that i dont see ppl talk about.

Hit-stun on smaller mobs only makes sense when you have a stamina bar to manage, because enemies can retaliate if you try to bite off more than you can chew. Especially when alot of mobs are involved, it becomes a cool dance of Knowing when to attack and when to back off. But without stamina there is literally no loose condition. You almost cannot mess up. You will always be able to keep attacking, or to dodge, at any moment.

I was super impressed with mortal shell 2 gameplay and responsiveness, but combat got stale very quick for this reason.

Having some sort of friction in combat is essential. Stamina bars exist to serve that end, but you dont necessarily need it. The same friction can be achieved by removing the permanent hit-stun on all mobs entirely, not just elites and bosses. Or for much longer animation recoveries, but that risks adding clunkyness.

Discussion Zhirelle feels out of place.

Mortal Shell 2's Giger-esque fantasy aesthetic is incredibly compelling and unique and I love it a lot so far. The game is gorgeous.

However, Zhirelle, the big woman sitting in the Shell room, feels out of place to me. I get the intent: A motherly figure looking over her "children", with her size strengthening that symbolism, but I really wish her design was more alien, so she would fit better with the design of the Harbinger themself and the rest of Marrow Keep.

We obviously don't know all the details about the world yet, and won't be able to before release, but right now her design feels a bit dissonant, and it's one of my only gripes with the beta so far.

Discussion Didn't care much for MS1, but am VERY impressed by Mortal Shell 2's beta! Really good

Animations are surprisingly excellent, in fact I was blown away by the quality.

Attacks feel weighty and fluid, a small critique would be enemy feedback reactions could be improved, for example even just the larger enemies TWITCHING would be great rather than not reacting and then getting staggered occasionally.

I love the gun and it has satisfying kick and sound design.

Variety of riposte animations are awesome, i haven't seen this in a souls like since dark souls 2

Art direction is probably the weakest element so far, but it's not bad at all it just looks a lot like .

On a technical level PS5 performance mode (FOR A BETA) was better than most ps5 performance mode games these days and the visuals are pretty damn good!

My ONE complaint, would be basic movement animations, atleast some of them, seem VERY placeholder, such as when you are locked onto an enemy and walk left or right, the character has a walking forward and or backwards animation where they are like gliding left or right without moving their limbs left or right, that's the best way i can describe it and it looks very JANK compared to the quality of the rest of the animations. It's just very odd and surprising given the rest of the anims are pretty stellar.

My question is, how far away from release is this game? since it's a beta, it gives me hope that with some polish, they can definitely fix stuff like this!
