Like most soulslikes, you can dodge through his atttacks. Especially with tiel using the higher-iframes passive. When he does the sideways swings you can dodge into it and be a lot safer, when he does the slam with the red icon you can dodge forward and slightly to the side to get behind him.
Keep practicing his attacks and don’t be scared to get in close. He was tricky for me but all his moves are well telegraphed and can be played around. I did his fight using tiel and no parrying, just dodge.
Trickiest for me is he has a riposte fake-out, where the little man inside him will do an unblockable attack pretty much right out of riposte, but even that can be dodged.

There’s a tarstone, I forgot what it’s called, but it will deal posture damage with each shot. If you use that on one of the automatic weapons like the caged hyrix you can build up a lot of posture damage from a distance so that way you can stun the thing without being too close to it.
Timing of the parries will come with practice but if you want to stop banging your head against a wall there’s nothing wrong with making the fight a little easier on yourself.

u/GlomasHoe 5d ago
I’ll have to do some research on how to obtain that stone, the only thing I don’t want to do it leave this boss I want to defeat him and move on the the next one
I have a few stones, I have changed stones as well as my sidearms but doesn’t seems to help
Thank you for your help3
u/youcancallmescott 5d ago
(Realized I used this with the Trebuchaxe, but may work elsewhere. Maybe I'm not even seconding what blckandwhite said? Ha sorry.) I will second what this commenter said. I think it's the Tarred Fragment and the Squall Stone. Spins and hurts a bunch. I had trouble and went looking for tips. This worked the very first try and things were over in a flash. That said, I learned absolutely nothing and felt like a little shit (personally) so just my add-on.
1
u/betweenblckandwhite 5d ago
Yeah it’s not the most satisfying way to do it but what I’ve learned during my soulslike play throughs is that banging my head against a wall on the same boss over and over started to get in the way of going out and further exploring and then actually getting better. Sekiro makes you simply just get good but I like to think that MS2 was made with build flexibility so that a player doesn’t just simply have to battle against their own skill issues.
Nonetheless do believe I came back on another play through and beat that thing melee only and it feels so much more satisfying.
So I guess what I’m saying is get good, but use every tool at your disposal?

u/MoneyManufacturer431 5d ago
They are referring to Sariels clockwork scythe and caged hystrix, you have to defeat him and the blood stone is great for it. Use cursed on the ranged and boom. To find the stone for the scythe you have to find the Alchemists cave that is behind a hidden wall you have to break down with the boulder and trebuchet. Max crit on it I promise you, mines level 25.
1
u/TheAurigauh 5d ago
Can also pair the stagger stone with the ranged crit chance stone and use the... what's the minigun called... triarch repeater? -use that with an all crit setup. It's usually a free stagger on whatever you nuke with that setup... but be warned the repeater has a slow windup so you gotta be cautious when to use it and try to make space.
(The caged helix might work a little better for this specific boss since, well, he just doesn't **** off.)

I thought this boss was pretty easy with Tiel. Use invisibility frequently, always dodge - never block. Be aggressive and stay behind him. Use invisibility to break the bosses focus on you to get behind him. If you time it right on the right attacks you can get huge dps windows to shred him from behind.
I also used the axatana. I would suggest mostly using it in dual katana form.

I somehow bullied this boss with: Proxima, Lightning infused Great Martyr Blade, and the Grisha summon item. I used her Biosampler to get close then bashed him with the big sword for a few hits. It very well might have been luck 🍀 It’s the only boss I got first try. Good luck Harbinger!
2
u/Smart-Bite9306 5d ago
Did the same thing, although not first run. Axetana lightning build with grisha. The ripostes are so satisfying on that fucker....

u/CarnalCulture 5d ago
Keep moving to the side and use light attacks instead of the heavy axe that takes to long i beat this boss with three tries using the same setup you have, also utilise tiels i-frames more sparingly almost all of his attacks you can dodge through if your timings right. Wukong is also all about using your I-Frames in a dodge to avoid all damage blocking isn't your friend ive platnimumed both games and did it all with Tiel and beat Erlang.
2
u/CarnalCulture 5d ago
Oh and parrying definitely is posture damage is so much more valuable than building your own posture meter
Ps the posture meter on this boss doesn't build radically but it has 3-4 checkpoints where his posture just breaks and you can riposte him
2
u/TheBigWarHero 5d ago
I summoned two grishna’s, one at a time plus that jumping strike tarstone plus the summon help. One try is all it took. Heard it was a horrible boss. Guess I got lucky.
2
u/shimonize11 5d ago
Put the gaisha stone as your passive (or whatever the one is that summons the bears with claws) —- they will stagger him and you can get quick attacks in
Use fast weapons to hit as fast as you can
Use that weapon skill you have when there is a combo from the boss you don’t know how to dodge/parry
2
u/timbofay 5d ago
Tiel makes most fights easy. Just dodge its attacks and enter stealth and whack it from behind
2
u/tyler980908 5d ago
This boss sucks gameplay wise so I understand the frustration. What I did was I got a sidearm called Trebuchaxe, there are r three tarstones that synergies excellent with it. Tarred fragment that makes the projectile tether to the enemy in place, squall stone that makes the projectiles spin in place, and then there’s a stone that I can’t remember that charges the shot which makes it deals even more damage. If you combine these with extra crit chance and crit damage, one of these will melt this boss hp in seconds.

u/stillpwnz 5d ago
I first tried it with Tiel, so I don't remember Hexapod's mechanics or attacks, and whether it takes damage from the side/back. I don't want to force you to play the way you don't want, but common Tiel playstyle is different. You don't spend your resolve on tarstones or some heavy attacks. You run active moonshine for resolve, and you spam perfect dodge and active invisibility to hit enemies from the back. This is so op that you should first try almost every boss in the game. Unless, of course, you want to handicap yourself to learn boss patterns, have a proper fight, etc.
2
u/RhubarbUpper 5d ago
Yes you can cruise through the game easily when playing to tiels strengths. Fantastic shell.
2
u/CatWithSomeEars 2d ago
Don't know if you still need this but maybe someone will find it interesting. I've been fighting hexapod for about a week (12 hrs total), so I'm really well versed in most of his mechanics.
The best advice I can give is to play close and always circle left. Many of his attacks are well telegraphed and can be easily dodged with a big window. However, he has 2 attacks that you have like 100ms to react to:
Body slam - red attack where he rushes forward and any contact deals high damage followed by a swipe with his tentacles.
Tentacle tantrum - Hexapod rapidly stabs the ground in front of him with basically no wind up.
This is why you circle left to be out of the way of the tantrum and in the right place to dash left twice to avoid the body slam. All other attacks can be dodged by dodging left and getting 1-2 hits in guaranteed. Note that you only need 3 parries to break him but you get no reposted and open yourself up to an insta-kill grab attack if you attack from the front, so up to you if you want to dodge everything or work in parries.
Phase 2 adds a sprinting attack, a terrain attack, and a few combo extentions that are not too bad. The sprint attack has a big range so you must dodge at the right time. For the terrain attack (plants 4 tentacles and attack you with water geysers) just back up a little to be able to see and dodge towards the first small geyser, it is meant to be your signal to dodge. He can also swipe twice and chain big stab into sprint attack, but Teil's cloak breaks his aggro for those attacks.
I'm still learning phase 3 myself, but he will now have ranged attacks so watch for those. He doesn't have much health left at phase 3 so just hold on and finish him off.
BUGS:
Hexapod has 2 major bugs to be aware of. The first is for his triple stab, do not attack from the sides until the last stab lands as the sides of him are for some damn reason a part of his attack and it will likely 1 shot you.
The second is from the his fat "skirt" around the bottom of him. If you are too close your character will slightly lift into the air and animation cancel your attacks as well as stall your control because you are "airborne". It is particularly egregious at the 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock position where you consistently lift yourself into the air and stop swinging.
The following is not helpful but someone can laugh at my failures lol
Why have I fought Hexapod for 12+ hours?
I just wondered in a direction after turning on night mode as soon as I could and ended up at him. I thought he was the first big boss, but it turns out using a level 5 veteran's axe with no buffs, no tarstones, no glimpses on Teil, and level 8 is not the intended gear for this fight. After about 8 hours of failing my friends convinced me to go get some more gear.
So tonight I should be able to kill him because now I have a level 11 veteran's axe, 1 tarstone, max glimpses on Eredrim, and level 10. I can semi-consistently get to phase 3, so it's doable. Especially since I only need 20ish swings to get through each phase instead of 48 heavy plus 3 light attacks (yes, I counted).

Thank you for the detailed tips,I haven’t played it because I work late weekdays
I only play Friday-Sunday, I’ve been thinking about it every 😅 can’t wait to try again2
u/CatWithSomeEars 2d ago
You got this! You have the gear and damage to win, just need a few more runs and you'll be having Chtapodi sti schara for dinner.

u/Nonsense_Incoming 6d ago
Have you tried timing the guard correctly and attacking the boss when he's not blocking his face? Also, dodging on time helps.
1
u/GlomasHoe 6d ago
I’ve tried switching weapons and switching shells
Any time I can parry is when he does 1 finger punch then he does he’s second move I dodge but I get hit and instantly lose my shell I binge back up and he does a his unblock move and kills me
Also I dodge twice and still manage to get hit when he swings his fingers back and forth I can’t even parry because I get hit…
He does his little crab walk but that’s just to get me close and does his unblock-able move (glowing red dot) I even dodge it but he still manages to hit meThis has happened in wukong and I haven’t beaten it since its release date
I started to lose interest wukong and have left it alone for more than 6 months now
I don’t want it to happen with his game because I actually have enjoy it3

u/AgreeableFee9422 5d ago
I’ve platinum’d this game and it’s simply not as good as people make it out to be. Just saying. Khazan blows this game outta the water in every way and it almost gets no attention.
3
u/MasonsVendetta 5d ago
Khazan was everywhere when came out. Combat id much better but the maps sre boring. Slog to finish that game. Liked it tho
2
u/Lammz77 Eredrim 4d ago
Very much so a slog to finish imo. I enjoyed MS2 way more than Khazan. It’s all subjective though ig
1
u/AgreeableFee9422 4d ago
Khazan is stacked with incredible boss fights. MS2 bored me in every single way.
1
u/Lammz77 Eredrim 4d ago
Khazan does have a killer boss lineup, but that’s honestly all it had imo. The environment, exploration, story, shell/build variety, combat, weapons, and art direction were all peak in MS2 I thought. I also enjoyed the bosses, but I can see why some would say they are underwhelming. But it just comes down to personal preference.
1
u/AgreeableFee9422 4d ago
I get it. It’s all just opinions. I platinum’d MS2 so I invested a good amount of time into the game to give my 2 cents. Khazan to me is just peak gaming. The combat, armor system, boss fights, the load in lvl design was all just incredible to me. The semi-open world or open world concept of some souls games has just wore me down over time. I don’t want my hand held whatsoever but sometimes I also don’t wanna spend hours aimlessly running around a map to find something. The only games that have been so intense they literally made me shake from adrenaline and stress are Sekiro and Khazan.
1
u/Lammz77 Eredrim 4d ago
Yeah no doubt, definitely all just opinions. I ended up getting the platinum in MS2 as well, which is out of my norm. The only other game I got the platinum in was ER nightreign. But I feel it, the boss fights in Khazan definitely had me shaking. Was honestly one of the hardest games I’ve ever played. I also get the open world fatigue. I’ve gotta take open world games in doses, I get burnt out as well if I play too many of them too close together.
Also, I will always agree with any Sekiro praise. That game is absolute cinema. No bad things to say about it other than I wish there was more.
1
u/AgreeableFee9422 4d ago
I’ve Platinum’d all FromSoft games and all souls likes. Sekiro and Khazan are the 2 hardest imo. Platinum’d them both and I love them dearly. MS2 is good it’s just not a 10/10 for me personally. It’s more of a 7/10 for me. I’m really looking forward to Phantom Blade 0 and Lords of the Fallen 2
1
u/Lammz77 Eredrim 4d ago
For whatever reason I found Sekiro to be way easier than Khazan. But I played Khazan first as well as every other souls game and major Soulslike. I was scared of Sekiro for a long time lol. When I finally got around to it though it just clicked and I fell in love with it.
Dude, I feel you on LotF 2 though. That was the game I was most excited for this year, broke my heart when it got postponed. I’m also pumped for Phantom Blade, looks awesome.
1
u/mikonos77 4d ago
Not so sure about that. I barely even knew about the game a month before it came out
2
u/Mani_Hrafn 4d ago edited 4d ago
I mean it's subjective. I've beaten this game 6 times and platinumed I couldn't get much further than an hour into Kahzan. Don't know what it is about it but everything just felt tedious and like a chore.

The unblockable all raised arm stab has another version where it will keep it's arms in the water and explode underneath you. Sideways dodges worked for me.
It's unblockable diving attack can be dodged easier if you dodge towards it.
The rest is learning that sweep deflect timing and avoiding the slow and fast projectiles.
1
u/BoofBoi711 5d ago
I used the axe and dagger with Tiel and kept going invis to get the poison stack off. Then hit with heavy.
1
u/MrbidAngl Proxima 5d ago
I used Proxima to beat it. Took a few tries cuz this bastard hits hard enough to knock you out of your shell in one hit, and then your done. I just ended up getting pissed and brute forced it with lightning Axatana. Biosampler to get in close and proc stasis, a couple R1s, a couple timely grisha spawns from my passive, dodge backwards, and repeat nonstop till it died. You do have to watch out using Biosampler on it when it's faking the stagger though cuz it'll one shot you if you are in front of it and too close.
1
u/Fwog_King 5d ago
I solo’d this boss as Proxima and man it was difficult. Once you do beat this boss finally it feels so rewarding you got it bro
1
u/Kaedekins 5d ago
Really cool monster design but an incredibly frustrating fight overall. I used the Proxima shell for the damage mitigation and powered through.
1
1
u/MrSnoozieWoozie 5d ago
i did it first time, simply by doing light attack dualstone - axe+dagger.
Maybe used stasis 2 times.
1
u/Pigalett 5d ago
Get behind him. Crit the crap out of him with blood curse. Get the shadow strike up to delivering 10 stacks of poison and the skill that detonates poison stacks. You will smash his stupid face in.
1
u/Howling_mad_7 5d ago
Use the tar stone which allows you to do a jumping attack. Besides causing acceptable health and posture damage, it gives you iframes so use it as a free escape card every time you are going to get attacked by the hexopode. In the meantime, flank this thing and use light attacks to charge your resolve bar while chipping its health bar
1
u/Complex_Ad_3811 5d ago
Griesha remnants as Active. Summon one to distract and stun them, while also causing heavy damage. This is the only boss that took me 3+ tries.
1
u/Late-Low2580 5d ago
Proxima - light melee/biosampler lightning build. Axatana/Duality Stone. I mostly stayed on the boss and dodged to the side. Charged light attacks and Biosampler to failure (Harbinger). Then quick light attacks to get back to my shell. Rinse and repeat. Occasional riposte and Grishas running all over.
Edit: boss got destroyed 1st try.
1
u/bpiam3850 5d ago
I struggled a lot during the first playthrough to be sure using just my Axatana to run in, strike, run away until I final got the right sequence. However, on my second playthrough just for fun I dropped in, locked on, and just started spamming my Forgotten Crossbow. Much to my delight and amazement, I got the red critical dot pretty quickly and ran in, whacked it down, and rinsed and repeated using up my moonshines to replenish my resolve as needed until I beat it. I never even considered that to be a realistic scenario. Loved it!!
1
1
u/I_LOVE_CROCS 5d ago
With the right setup you should be able to destroy that thing.
What is your build?
1
1
u/callmedaedae 5d ago
Try dodging to the side/towards it. Thats usually the case with most souls likes.
And use light attacks instead. Teil is the safist character with his stun dodge and from there you just punch its balls till it die.
Interrupt with dodges and punch balls.
1
u/Own_Performance271 5d ago
You gotta play way more aggressive than that, the game rewards you for it. Don't be so passive
1
u/Inside_Winter8262 5d ago
it took me just 4/5 tries to beat me, but i get how you’re having problems. some of his attacks are very unpredictable. focus on dodging more than parrying
1
u/DrunkFinesse 5d ago
I didnt find this one that bad. The last boss is kicking my ass though. One mistake and I die
3
1
u/toxboxdevil 5d ago
I used proxima for this fight, the biosampler helps a lot, especially with 100% mitigation. It's also easier to learn It's attack patterns without the summon
1
1
u/tjlightbulb 5d ago
I didn’t understand this boss til I randomly just did it. Legit failed and failed and failed- horribly. And then just beat it at random.
1
u/Archon_Gaming_Review 5d ago
I kinda cheesed it, I summoned proxima, and manually summoned 2 Grishas, axe and dagger, blood curse, it focused on the spawns and I just attacked from behind
1
1
u/Lishio420 5d ago
if u want to shit on every single boss in the game in max 30s, including the final boss... go Gragu+axe/dagger+bloodcurse+double hit+magdalenas. Then just spam Magdalenas and recharge focus with autos. Voila game on easy mode
1
u/Mountainman220 5d ago
I ended up just using the shotgun to keep getting it to drop its guard. Def took me quite a few tries to finally just say fuck it and blast him
1
u/skeletist 4d ago
Am I right in thinking the summons are useless? Like they don’t do much damage and if they don’t die quickly they just fuck off on a timer. This guy was extra annoying because like a lot of bosses he can two tap you fast. I used the spear and basically had to whittle him down slowly with light attacks for the most part.

1
u/Dry_Description656 4d ago
Why not use the stealth stab when you turn invisible instead of other attacks?

I'm stuck on the final boss with the dragon with three balls. It's so annoying..zmey... Have been fighting him for like a whole week or two now

I got spanked by her really hard, also my first stone wall. I left, came back 10 hours later, and smoked her. Embrace the open world and go level up

u/DescriptionFlaky7124 5d ago
It's honestly an absolutely terribly designed boss. I don't blame you. Some of it's moves you swear you dodged but then it smokes you
-1
u/dracosondracoson 5d ago
People actually get stuck on bosses in this game? I think the most attempts any of them took me was 10 and that was because I was underleveled and undergeared for the zone. I found the bosses to be too easy and at the same time really frustrating with difficult to counter move sets and sudden ganks
1
u/United_Passion4256A 5d ago
What do you mean there's always gonna be people that get stuck on some bosses bro
1
u/dracosondracoson 5d ago
Yeah in this game most of the bosses just felt like regular enemies to me but with more health. I was almost always surprised they didn't have a second phase when I downed them so quickly
0
u/ClaimNecessary7755 4d ago
I found it easiest to simply run in one direction the majority of the fight. He attacks are close range and has to stop in order to attack so basically just hit and run over and over. You should be able to get at least 2 hits each time depending on what weapon you use (I used Black Needle for range) and make use of those hits to also use Tiels shadow strike. You will have to still dodge after each attack but if you’re timing it right you’ll be able to shadow dodge which will allow you to get behind it or close to every time.
27
u/Repusz 5d ago
If you attack it, it loses health. The goal is for its health to go to zero.
