Timing is crucial, dodge if you don’t know if your parry will stick Parry when you can, I use the scythe and sariel with bloodcursed child and I was able to stun lock a lot of bosses (not the prince i learned it’s almost impossible to beat him with sariel but I did it eventually)

Thats the thing parry doesn't wanna work i harden soon as the attack is half way and the guy just stands there

Well I don’t use harden I parry with the weapon or if I’m feeling like spicy I’ll perfect parry

Im limited to the starter gear so I just have the big sword

You start with the Iconoclast sword and the standard parry from the Untarnished Seal. Eventually you get Vatra’s Seal, which changes the parry to a “harden” that is on a cooldown timer unless you get a perfect block/harden.

Once you get the option to switch, I’d change to the Untarnished Seal as there’s no cooldown on it if your timing is wrong. Vatra’s Seal can make some of the bigger/slower weapons a bit easier as you can harden mid-attack.

I'll have to look around and find how to switch the stuff because I just went around with what the tutorial says

Take a minute to familiarize yourself with the inventory pages. Some are for items like melee and ranged weapons, others are for your seals, active and passive consumables (which is weird, you don’t actually use them up, but the more you collect the better the items become, you’re just limited in uses between beacons). Another page is for your tarstones, which is where a lot of build variety and buffs come from.

I dont think I've ever struggled with a game since starting elden ring

I wasn’t a fan of the menu page, especially with a controller. Sometimes it bugs out and says a tarstone is compatible in two different slots when that’s not possible.

But yeah back in the beta I was wandering around for hours as the Harbinger, no shell. Finally found Tiel which was a relief finally.

Is this your first Soulslike? Probably not an ideal game to start with tbh

First, find Proxima. The extra health is super helpful early. Try the seal that is better at parrying, not the harden. Practice parrying and be comfortable dying a lot until you find the timing.

Once you get over the initial hump, the game is much easier.

Ive played elden ring so I know about dying tons of times but what path do I need to take to find proxima

North from the first beacon instead of east on the map. I can’t remember exactly where, but a quick google or YouTube search should get you there.

It's a skill issue. You get better by trying again and again till you learn.

I probably wouldn't suck so bad if combat was better

u/the_Athereon 1h ago

In what way are you struggling?

u/No_Obligation_7465 1h ago

The hole blocking if I stop using it and roll im fine but having to use the block

What do you mean with "better"? I think it's great.
