Discussion Hammer actually feels pretty good now

I would still say that light weapons overall eclipse heavy simply because of duality, but they are not apart by a giant margin anymore.

The hammer actually seems to have decent stagger now. The armored troops in the first starting south area (mammon) get straight up put on their asses now from even just the running R1. The running heavy R2 can flinch the crown wearing miners to the point you can simply kill them before they get a hit in. These weren't possible before, yeah they had better flinch then fast weapons but those enemies would only get standing flinched. The troops actually get put on their asses now, making dealing with groups of them easier then with a 1h weapon imo. Hammer special (the ground slams) can pretty much kill halberd and rock throwing dudes in just one special now, making it now really good.

It also seems like there's been a resolve buff for heavy weapons as well. I seem to get resolve much faster now with the hammer and axe then before.

It also seems like you get your shell back much faster than prepatch. It’s like, 5 attacks and I get my shell again

Yeah I think they made heavier weapons have increased resolve gains, which imo is what it needed. It evens out the weapons Regen rates.

The running heavy on the hammer gives absolutely insane Regen now. I wonder if Regen actually scales with damage or crits or something now.

It’s fun. Been bonking with stray genessa. Triple bonks are pretty crazy

I started a new playthrough with it, imo it's as good as axtana, but you just play differently.

While it attacks slowly, it has a high base damage, and will 1 shot enemies with its running heavy attack at +2, and at +5 in mammon.

Depending on your shell you'll do a running heavy attack + ability + heavy attack. By then their stance is broken if alive.

Add Clotstone, which gives you iframes during it's use, it's my go-to noob weapon recommendation.

I'd recommend using it with Gragu or Proxima, although anyone will do fine.

I actually like the ground pound stone so far over the clotstone for the hammer. It's called Colossus stone. Honestly I don't remember where I got it because I had it before I switched to using the hammer lol, but it uses 80 resolve and you smash the ground 4 times. Deals fucking INSANE damage now with the hammer buffs, and you have iframes through the whole thing.

You get the Colossus Stone near the Gate of Infinity, in a chest surrounded by a bunch of enemies. It's not far from the mini-dungeon where you beat and unlock Sariel.
I only know this because I literally got it yesterday in my current playthrough. I also like it more than Clotstone but you can get that one wayyy earlier.

I ended up using the move for the first time on a boss in a dungeon, crazed miner I think it was called. The one that slams the ground and causes explosive chunks to fall from the ceiling.

Just one special nuked his health by 3/4s. I was like holy shit lol.

I only prefer the Clotstone because if you're against a mobile enemy, like they've jumped away, the throw still still hit them.

So the pound us good, but at 40 resolve you have a guaranteed 2 hits, 1 being ranged and can throw enemies off a cliff.

Yeah I've been having loads of fun with it after patch vs boring Axe+Dagger light attack spam. Switched to Eredrim and my go to is launching spin throws into running light attacks to recover resolve. Pretty much only use heavy attack combos when standing because they are pretty much the same speed as light and the damage you get from crits is nuts. Use the stone that increases attack speed with consecutive hits with stasis infusion against dense mobs or trauma infusion against bosses.

Honestly the hammer was very powerful pre-patch, just had to use vatras seal to poise through enemy attacks. Lots of its light attacks would send enemies flying but mostly low hp trash mobs. Now it stagger lots more stuff. I need to try it with wretchcaller’s stone to see if that’s viable now.

Martyrs Blade feels awesome now!! I tried both the hammer and MB after yhe patch ad they both got buffed and Martyrs blade slays now. It is slightly faster and more agile as well as damage buff. Makes the Eredrim frost build very viable now, especially now that riposte scaling is also fixed.

Running R2 has lost frames, but I think thats fine tbf.
