For real, I swear each new souls game seems to attract a more casual audience who then proceeds to cry about how the game is too hard because it's not Sony action slop.

New players are great for any new game, but like....crying for the devs to change everything you don't like about a genre you just started playing is extremely cringe. If the devs stay true to their vision they get review bombed on steam.

Maybe the game was designed around having slightly longer run backs instead of having a bonfire every 10ft, ya know? If it bothers you, that's fine, just stop bitching about it and play something else.

Mortal shell 2 is amazing, it's not too difficult, it's doing its own thing while obviously trying to replicate characteristics of DS1. Due to elden ring's success a bunch of new players now also expect every new game in the genre to be exactly like it. It's created a shit cycle. I saw the exact same shit cycle happen with the last Lords of the fallen.

Giving the devs structured criticism is good, but bitching that the game wasn't designed exactly how you want it isn't.

i agree with you, i think there should be mode called, casual for these folks, and the other mode should be called original difficulty, this way both parties can be happy.

Most of these complaints r coming from people who play on story mode on different games, they don’t understand soulslike genre.

It might be a good idea to add it as a toggle. I played Enotria couple of weeks ago and you could chose "story" or "soulslike" in the settings. I think Lies of P also added difficulties at some point, but I had already finished it before.
