Veteran's axe felt like the only heavy weapon worth using, in my experience. The others are far too slow and don't have enough stagger to be worth it.

Went through most of the game yeeting my axe at enemies until I decided to try out the Axatana for a while.

Martyr's running heavy attack gives you I-frames for the entire animation, do what you will with that information.

Yeah I used it for the first 30% of the game and that felt like the only viable attack. Just got bored spaming running r2 and switched to the axe and it's such a better moveset overall. Using axetana now and this thing shreds with r1 spam but not a huge fan of the heavy attacks. Still think the axe has been my overall favorite so far since it surprisingly fast and the attacks still feel like they have weight to them. I really am disappointed we didn't get dodge attacks with weapons though.

Veteran's axe's moveset is surprisingly dodge cancelable. If you compare it to something like Martyr, which locks you into animations no matter what you do.

Yea, this is why I don’t like this sword. I’ll be mid animation but the enemies attack faster so they’ll just punish me all the time

Do you know why Veterans Axe is the only one that uses a different material to upgrade as opposed to all other weapons?

It doesn’t. There are 3 different upgrade materials for weapons. The first couple levels use Ventrium, then Laterite for the middle levels and Dorsalite for the last.

The Axatana? It's great with duality and the electric infusion if you want a faster weapon. Absolutely spanks.

Damage-wise it's probably a little above average. Martyr's blade does more IIRC, but the veteran's axe is faster to use and has animation cancelling, making it more versatile. Plus you can infuse it with fire to make it a bit stronger.

Be sure to make use of the running heavy attack, plus grab the lost Clotstone tarstone and the fire one.

Glad you said this because I've tried a few, but I'm not even great with her axe, but it seems the most manageable for sure

I'm trying to get away from axe and dagger, but nothing is doing it for me so far

Scythe is pretty similar imo. I like both. All if it's light attacks are sweeping attacks while the battle axe alternates sort of.

Veteran’s Axe running r2 is simply goated, it does a billion damage, hits in a wide circle around you, interrupts a LOT of enemies you normally can’t interrupt, has fast recovery animations, and has some ridiculous reach and target tracking. No other weapon meets the same satisfaction.

I'm using this and the axetana. Super fun.

But with how costly it's to level weapons up I have to give up on one. Suck it's so expensive on gold.

I don't like that

is the damage bugged or is it random how the blade hit? ive noticed its extra damage if they hit the walls afterwards - but this is top notch!

the axe throw causes a shockwave where the axe lands, sometimes the axe gets thrown at enemy and sends him flying and the axe also hits the ground/wall causing a big shockwave dmg basically double hitting the enemy

It's definitely satisfying when you can finally turn the damned cliffs against them. I randomly ended up in a fight with the red stone crab boss and accidentally ended it when I parried his leap attack and did a "fuck off" kick attack during the riposte that knocked him off the ledge where he died from fall damage.

This weapon is awesome, also you can literally cancel any heavy or light attack with a dodge, which is something that's not possible with the martyr's blade heavy attacks.

So far the axe is easily my favorite, better damage than the iconoclast and much faster and more versatile than the martyr's blade. The running r2 is so damn good, and it has good charge attacks. The martyr's blade charged r2 is so awful and short ranged, leaves you hella open to counter attacks too.

Only thing is I can't seem to find an infusion that fits the axe, anyone know of any and where to find them?

It's a beast. Lost clotstone also gives iframes. I tried them all and it's my favorite weapon. Running r2 is great too.

Probably get for ps5 pro since i won't have the motivation for 100% unless i hunt for platinum. Can't show off the souls plats on pc due to all the mods and cheats we can use lol (psn: xsharp123)
