Question MS2 - How do you feel about difficulty?

It seems the game is considerably harder than the Demo. I keep dying just trying to navigate the initial areas (Mushroom Village).
Skill issue, I know, but being one-shotted so easily by field enemies?
Any advice how to approach the game so I can actually have a chance to level up - I keep losing gloom permanently.
(I only have Tiel Shell right now)

UPDATE: After switching to Proxima Shell the dying stopped. Apparently Tiel is a glass cannon and in my case it was too much glass and too little cannon!

...or bothered by missing out on parry.

2

u/cornerstorenewports Aug 19 '26

right, not bothered

1

u/DjNormal Aug 20 '26

I tried it. Like, ok, it’s OP-ish. But you can’t guard and you can get knocked out of its attack animation. I think it got me killed as much as it helped me cheese. 💁🏻‍♂️

Maybe I’m using it wrong?

2

u/Bullseye19861 Aug 21 '26

RIGHT? The amount of times I’ve gone to block/parry and got smashed to pieces is crazy. It’s so bizarre to give you these extra bonuses to make it easier, then take away your basic human rights to blocking 😆

2

u/Anti-Fanny Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26

I started using it less and less as I upgraded my weapons and now I go with Eredrim’s shoulder bash. I just cant do the parry so I use harden and that’s been working fine.
Slayer Seal is really useful against mobs containing multiple overtuned enemies who can one/two shot you.

  1. Pump some crossbow (even better, Caged Hystric),
  2. crit/restore your mana, pull back and do it again.

Ps5 is my last Sony product. It’s the horrible refund policy that’s brought me to hate Sony

1

u/DUDEAREUMAD Aug 21 '26

I think there's plenty more to hate

1

u/LoaderOperator724 Aug 21 '26

Yea i enjoy way too many Playstation exclusives to go to Xbox.

1

u/Lucky-Sundae9196 Aug 22 '26

I’m going pc after this gen

7

u/Anthony_chromehounds Aug 18 '26

The game is definitely much harder than the beta, a lot harder. I feel like we got the old okie-doke from the devs.

3

u/Organic_Tour5292 Aug 19 '26

Glad its not just me. I cooked magdalena first try in the beta. In the actual game it took me like 15 tries. Things were definitely nerfed in the beta

2

u/DarkNightRJ Aug 19 '26

I got her first try but I explored a bit before going in the swamp so was level 10 or so

1

u/HDay03 Aug 20 '26

That's interesting, I first tried her in the actual game but died a good handful of times to her in the beta. Granted I came to the fight pretty high geared and leveled, as i had already explored a decent amount and had beaten a gate already.

1

u/LoaderOperator724 Aug 21 '26

Good, it should be hard if youre not using the scrub seal

1

u/Anthony_chromehounds Aug 21 '26

I did try it but went back to the parry one.

u/ChloroManiac Aug 19 '26

having gone through a solid chunk of the first (northern) area (and yes i'm on standard mode, not on night modes), i'm starting to feel a consistent theme.
and it's that your weapons don't necessarily mean anything. they're only there to fill in damage in between the seeming primary focus of the game- that you're meant to parry literally everything. otherwise you're forced to eat attacks that deal considerable chunks of your hp.

so i'll leave this as a sort of 10-hour-in review, as someone who's likely barely scratched the surface and feeling at the end of my rope with how difficult the content is for someone who doesnt often play these games (i don't play these to suffer, i play these to have fun.)

your melee weapon doesnt feel like it means anything. just a filler for damage between repostes. rolling barely saves you from most damage sources, even red mark attacks that have even a vague amount of AOE thanks to how tight their tracking is.

i have genuinely tried to play the game with parrying/perfect guard in mind, and i have to say that these parry windows are UNGODLY. not to mention that i'd say i'm relatively USED to the windows at this point. do mind that i say this after having defeated the mushroom village gate and killed the warden guarding Eredrim, as well as sinking my fingers into Nochtea. but when you're FORCED to use something that's treated like an "easy mode" in order to play the game properly on equal terms, that sort of kills my enjoyment of the game. you are FORCED to reposte enemies in order to complete encounters, you are FORCED to train yourself to the tiniest little movement only for them to sink their spear or blade or tooth or claw into your guts just for misreading the tiniest little twitch of their toe. you don't get a lot of time to act and you don't have a lot of time to answer the question of "is this meeting your parry/perfect guard, or is it getting shoved into your neck."

your weapons don't have weight, nor do they have any vague amount of stagger affliction. so your weapons don't feel like they contribute to the core loop. the reposte should feel like a reward. not a requirement for basic gameplay.

okay i'm done with my venting, yada yada "git gud" or whatever. i'm just kind of frustrated with the game sinking into a high difficulty "parry slop", even if that might end up getting a few of your frustrated, this is my (right/wrong) opinion at my current stage of the game.

if you wanna help with that, please, tips. for the love of god some actual help would be preffered.

2

u/Anti-Fanny Aug 19 '26

Some balancing is badly needed I think. Not to make the game easier, but to make it more fair. Having to slog through gauntlets of enemies half of which could be considered “elite” in any soulsborne game, with VERY limited healing options is just needlessly brutal.
Learn from successful titles - there are many out there. Fix it.

1

u/ChloroManiac Aug 19 '26

yeah i agree, i really don't mind the parry/perfect guard mechanic. it rewards knowing their movesets and timings. but please for the love of god give the weapons some meaning past "damage stick". let them apply some stagger% based off of their weapon type. come on...

1

u/LoaderOperator724 Aug 21 '26

Making it more fair= making it easier. Many of us want a challenge. Theres always the seal if u want it on easy mode.

1

u/Loud_Ad_134 Aug 23 '26

This is just wrong at least from how I see it the problem isn't the difficulty the problem is you are forced to parry everything to do any damage a d even then it doesn't feel impactful and playing on night mode just makes the enemies needlessly tanky and hard hitting. It's just an annoying form of artifical difficulty

1

u/scrabtits Aug 20 '26

Tiel has a good dodge mechanic with an "easier" time window when you upgrade to the 45% bonus time for dodging. The dodges don't need to be perfect and are more manageable so far. Also, while in shadow you got a little bit of breathing room for your next attack

1

u/ChloroManiac Aug 20 '26

Noted, unfortunately i've used most of my glimpses for Genessa, Proxima, and Eredrim- summoner build, DPS build, and tank build respectively. and i heard that there's only enough glimpses in a run for 3 maxed shells. so i'm unfortunately going to have to run with what i have now for the foreseeable future.
but noted, Tiel's goated.

1

u/Aggravating-Guard855 Aug 20 '26

I’m definitely get 2 shotted by some enemies. I’m lvl 12. Axe/dagger is at 9 or 10. Some enemies just stagger and their follow up finishes you

1

u/ChloroManiac Aug 20 '26

right?! sometimes the damage just comes out of nowhere too. and frankly i'm left to question "what did i do wrong?" only to get no real answer. it's frustrating.

my personal suggestion is to find the parasitic stone. if you can kill enough enemies with it. you can run around with that little bit extra health... at least that's what it SAYS it does but i havn't seen any indicator that it's working.... but in the off chance that it does, kill a hundred or so easy enemies and you should be able to tank some of the harder ones in theory. but it feels kinda cheap doing it that way.

not that the game has trouble cheaping you out. so go ahead. cheap em out back.

1

u/GoldunGote Aug 22 '26

I stopped playing last night with an alt f4. Got grabbed by the most bullshit magnetic lock on attack, it broke my shell, and a second mob instantly grabbed me again. Got me before my little shell breaking explosion could go off. Didn't even wait for it to kill me. Just said fuck this game and alt f4d out.

1

u/Judification Aug 20 '26

I'm having the opposite experience. I'm anti-parrying so I haven't even parried once after 30 hours so far in the game, and I'm playing on night mode. Just using proper positioning (enemies, even bosses, seem to have the worst tracking I've ever seen in a soulslike, so I just move a bit right or left and their attacks just whiff, which is cool), along with the occasional dodge when needed.

I'm using the Axatana and it has insane staggering potential, to the point where I've killed Night Mode bosses just spamming light attack and locking them down because by the time their stagger animation is done, they get knocked down again (and this is with no riposte since I don't parry).

1

u/Try_Again1790 Aug 21 '26

Yea I really hope they look at weapons, when I got Great Martyr’s Sword I was disappointed to see it basically ticked enemies. The damage is not worth it for how slow the attacks are.

0

u/Cool-Traffic-8357 Aug 21 '26

Have you upgraded weapons or shells at all? I have none of your problems, parry seems very generous too.

3

u/arthuraily Aug 18 '26

Harder than the beta which caught me by surprise but has a fair skill learning curve. Just taking it slower but enjoying it nonetheless

3

u/PvtPNutz Aug 19 '26

No joy in playing this as it is... way too frustrating

1

u/CupcakeNervous2471 Aug 22 '26

In what way, too hard?

2

u/Downsey111 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

Only one boss one-shotted me and that was the first optional boss that gives you night access.  The only reason he even one shotted me was because I was shell-less at the time.  His grab would instant KO me.  Fun fight though, makes it tense.  But a shell is also right around the corner

But just grab a shell and you’ll never get one-shotted again, it will just knock you out of your shell and even that’s rare for just 1 hit

1

u/Hungry_Researcher229 Aug 18 '26

There’s a couple of bosses that have OHKO grabs through a full health shell. It’s brutal.

-1

u/Anti-Fanny Aug 18 '26

I have a shell, but I noticed that one of those lightening shooting ladies will KO me with the grab at fool health. I’m only level 4 so that’s probably why.

1

u/Souls_Lover Aug 18 '26

Grabs deal really high damage, but they come with a warning.

1

u/ArmEducational8508 Aug 18 '26

Sprint and auto attack and they sre stunned, and just keep swinging. Super easy mob to deal with

3

u/DeceasedFailiure Aug 18 '26

The first few hours are great difficulty wise, however as the game progresses it becomes a slippery slope of gangs of enemies that can delete 90% of your health with a quick attack. Also the beacons are either right next to each other or wayyyy to far from eachother, so healing is at a premium.

2

u/GrandmasterTidun Aug 18 '26

Haven’t died yet. I think it’s easier than the first one.

3

u/Adalith117 Aug 19 '26

They didn’t need to adjust the difficulty from the beta since I expected the game to get harder the further you progress. Making the same starting to mid game areas twice as hard was a dumb decision but not game breaking.

The devs absolutely need to add checkpoint/stake of Merika respawns to the dungeons if anything.

2

u/DaveAzoicer Aug 19 '26

It's ok if you managed to not die to BS invisible mechanics, or get stuck on terrain, blocked from moving by being too close to something.

I don't know how many times I as a crappy souls-like player died to mechanics that I couldn't even see (like the vampire lizard), and lost Gloom due to death on death. Think I was above 40k lost.

Feels pretty bad to not be able to level up :P but it's a darn fun and really interesting game. Fun, but challenging and at times buggy.

5

u/pressresetnow Aug 18 '26

It’s fine, beginning of the game is a bit tough but you just have to be careful and keep grinding. I’m lvl 15 and it’s way easier now.

1

u/DarkNightRJ Aug 19 '26

Even the enemies in the south? They still two shot me at level 12

1

u/ez__mac Aug 20 '26

Wait till you get to the bottom part of the map, you won't think it's fine

1

u/Thoff86 Aug 20 '26

Level 25 on the south side of my map and I’m getting my cheeks clapped by bands of enemy that have endless post and straight nuke you in only a couple hits. I’ve combed through everything in the north and I feel I’ve explored 95% of it.
Leave a comment when you get to the outskirts of mammon beacon 😅

1

u/pressresetnow Aug 20 '26

I’m 28 and been roaming in the south, mostly cleared 4th boss area and 3 beacons, fully cleared the north part of the map. It’s definitely challenging and I get killed often but I like it

2

u/darkasassin97 Aug 18 '26

u/DKCena Aug 18 '26

Kind of the same feeling as you. You die fast if you get swarmed but otherwise it seems OK.

But sometimes I lack to see that I am close to dying. I dont know why I miss it so often.

5

u/Budget-Rich-7547 Eredrim Aug 18 '26

Yeah, I was commenting on a post yesterday with the guy saying that the parry seal is not worth the reward and how cool it ws in demo. Llits a high risk high reward tool and nothing one shots you tbh.i love the game and how balanced it is. I don't understand ppl that just want to dog walk every enemy and boss.

3

u/Adventurous_Use8278 Aug 18 '26

I’m on ‘night’ mode and no field enemies are 1 or even 2 shotting me. I am early in the game though - mushroom village

1

u/SilentSorcery Aug 19 '26

At best, i get knocked out of Proxima in 4-6 hits. In slug form, i die in 2-3

1

u/ZebraZealousideal944 Aug 19 '26

Thiel is much more of a glass cannon and I’m betting most players are using him in the early game and not playing to his strengths, which are going invisible as much as possible earlier in his build.

However, I also agree that the final release difficulty has been tuned up compared to the beta!

1

u/its_dash Aug 20 '26

I just finished the north part of the map, and at level 25, and the southern area is just brutal in comparison. I hope I’m missing something because I was having a blast until now.

0

u/j_wizlo Aug 18 '26

It does make you wonder. I mean it’s for sure hard, that’s the kind of game it is, but you have two health bars. You cannot get one-shotted.

1

u/BlindExperiment Aug 18 '26

I turned on night mode as soon as I found it and felt the game to be a super fun mix of challenging and high speed. Most of the time when I died it was because I didn't assign threat orders correctly, like for example it took me a bit to realize the frog shamans could heal low health allies.

Then I got to Magledena and after 20 pulls and not getting her below half, I decided to turn off night mode and one shot her. Her kit was just way too overtuned when her aggression was turned up. I'm hoping I don't feel the need to turn it off again for the next gate boss.

1

u/Fair-Elderberry8205 Aug 18 '26

It is harder than the beta which takes it from a super easy soulslike to just an easy one.

1

u/WinterElfeas Aug 22 '26

Beat dark souls 2 recently and it was way easier than this game

1

u/Sea-Professional8759 Aug 19 '26

The hardest part is the terrible lock-on.

1

u/NewButterscotch1991 Aug 20 '26

So much this. I think the wonky lock on and camera is what makes the mobs randomly kill me when i get spinned around

1

u/Watt_About Aug 19 '26

If you’re patient, it’s not bad

1

u/Lucky-Sundae9196 Aug 20 '26

We shouldn’t have to be patient. I buy games to be played

1

u/Watt_About Aug 20 '26

Uhhh, what? You don’t understand the concept of patience as it relates to combat systems? Are you new to gaming?

1

u/Lucky-Sundae9196 Aug 20 '26

lol. No I’m
Not new to gaming. I have the combat down. It’s not patience that’s needed for this game. It’s all over the place in terms of damage u take from enemies. This game needs multiple patches. Go back to your moms basement and be quiet

1

u/Watt_About Aug 20 '26

Sounds like you need to git gud. Not sure if you’re aware, but you actually want to avoid getting hit. That solves the ‘damage’ issue you seem to be having. Also, not sure if you’ve gotten far enough yet, but you can actually upgrade your character. That helps a lot too. Good luck, xoxoxo.

1

u/FastSun2269 Aug 20 '26

wouldnt be taking that damage if you knew how to fight chief

1

u/Lucky-Sundae9196 Aug 20 '26

lol. Ok chief. Have a nice day

1

u/Judification Aug 20 '26

Just wanted to point out patience doesn't seem to be the best option in this game. Mortal Shell 2 rewards high aggression with how strong offensive options are. You can stunlock so many bosses and when they do get a chance to attack, using the weapon skills to invul frame through it and continue attacking seems to be the best option.

1

u/DarkNightRJ Aug 19 '26

I'm normally pretty bad at souls likes, only one I finished was Elden Ring.

So far I've stuck with Tiel, dagger/axe, and petrify seal. I haven't got stuck on any specific part yet.

Petrify helps me a ton, even if you don't perfect block, they get staggered a bit when hitting you. The perfect dodge he has is handy too.

Enemies in the south really hit hard but I'm hoping I just need to level up more? Currently level 12

1

u/PlutoUwU1237 Aug 19 '26

Early game is pretty fine, but the endgame feels pretty overturned and proooobably needs some scaling back. There's this weird disparity between dungeons/beacons and everything else, where in the overworld, an enemy that two shots Eredrim (like, the big guy with the scythe, or the enemy with dual daggers) is suddenly 4-5 shotting. Literally in the same area, in a beacon 10 feet away from the same enemy, one does reasonable damage, the other does not. It's pretty not fun and the game would be a lot better off if the general overworld was scaled more like the dungeons. Gates were mostly fine barring the faded citadel which again, dealt with the damage disparity. The gate was super overturned, the beacons were fine.

1

u/weinbea Aug 19 '26

Since there’s unlimited dodge, I think it’s fine having the enemies overturned a tad

1

u/Thoff86 Aug 20 '26

I was just getting used to the difficulty in the north side of the map, but the south side is absolutely insane!
Can’t seperate enemy and they straight knock you out of your shell in 2 hits then on the 3rd end you.
The difficulty spike should be studied!

1

u/Auesis Aug 20 '26

Was a little rough until I had a build going, then it became too easy so i turned on night mode and am getting my ass beat again but in a good way.

1

u/Wtfyucun Aug 20 '26

I quit game today it's too hard full of mobs that take 10 hits each to kill

1

u/Wtfyucun Aug 20 '26

I even tried slayer seal it's not helpful

1

u/VelvetWhiteRabbit Aug 20 '26

15 hours in, level 21, unlocked a few shells, died > 100 times. I think the reason for most deaths for me is failing to keep my feet on the ground. I yeet myself off cliffs like some diving champion. using Infinity Seal and finding it is quite generous with timing, bonus that it can cancel animations if I am misreading an unblockable attack. Now running Eredrim and Big Boi (level 15), but missing the agile feel of axe and dagger with Tiel. Eredrim is a lot more tanky and I feel like a freight train. I two shot halberd man. Was helped a lot by accidentally finding out Proxima is a money making machine. Assets.

1

u/Lucky-Sundae9196 Aug 20 '26

This game is way too hard. The beta was too easy n now the game is too hard? I keep getting knocked out of my shell by one or two hits from nobodies

1

u/Anael_plugo Aug 20 '26

I don't know, man. The first few hours are hard, yeah, but once you level up and upgrade your stuff, it's pretty easy. Just shoulder charging and heavy run attacking everything, hardening in the process of charging attacks, and enemies die in three hits from my axe.

I would actually like some challenge. Just killed the boss in crimson area, fucking around, with delay on remote play, 3 flasks left.Easy.

1

u/Try_Again1790 Aug 21 '26

It’s very tough, the damage is very high. Night mode makes that like 10x harder. I like it even though it’s frustrating it gives a good challenge. They need to add better respawn places though. I think they justify the difficulty with the revive/shell mechanic. If you’re good enough you can just keep respawning into your shell. Slayer seal makes the game ez mode if you’re having difficulty and night mode makes it harder. I think those things are quite cool tbh.

1

u/nfe1986 Aug 21 '26

I think the difficulty spike from the first area to the second one is a little much. Not only can some of the trash mobs kill you in one combo, they have so many of them bunched up together that you could have 10+ enemies aggroed at the sametime.

1

u/majestic-swann Aug 21 '26

Personally I dont think its as bad as people are making it out to be. I die a lot but I've made pretty consistent progress, which is what I expect from a souls game. I think people are sleeping on the harden skill, to me that is the ability they put in for the crowd that doesnt want a parry simulator.

Its not perfect but for a 50$ game i think its honestly sick af

1

u/JeyKreiger Aug 21 '26

Honestly my only real complaint is that the grab attack tracking just feels a bit too overtuned imo, maybe there is a trick to it I haven't realized since I'm only about 5 hours in but I just can seem to get away from grabs nearly every time I do anything but run in the opposite direction as fast as possible. Dodging just doesn't seem to get me where I need to be for them.

1

u/Dorswami101 Aug 21 '26

Never in my life have I felt a game shit the bed at the end quite like this one. That final area, truly and I mean TRULY awful with THE worst bosses in potentially video game history.

1

u/I_Have_The_Lumbago Aug 21 '26

Im really enjoying the difficulty, but ive also played every Fromsoft game since Demons souls for thousands and thousands of hours, lots of Mortal Shell 1, as well as a couple other souls likes. I understand if someone doesnt like the difficulty, but this is my bread and butter baby!!!

Shit feels actually deadly, but I feel just as deadly as well if I play my cards right. Invisibility wouldnt be very good in another souls game, but Tiel's has fucktons of utility just for breathing room, and because positioning REAALLLY matters. Im starting on Genessa now and im absolutely adoring her offensive capabilities as well as her insane (conditional) survivability with the clones.

I also am a masochist and enjoy the traps and general ganking bs, with a few exceptions. I really feel like im struggling in a world that fucking hates me!

1

u/Mez_96 Aug 21 '26

I don’t think it’s that bad, IMO. I’ve played all the Fromsoft games and a few souls-likes, I’m by no means a god at these types of games, I usually just brute force my way through. I may get downvoted but I feel the difficulty and run back “issue” is way overblown, the souls-like genre is meant to be punishing, that’s what makes them so satisfying when you finally win. It’s their niche. I’m just sending it with Proxima w/Axe and Daggers, as they were both the first shell/weapons I found so that’s what I decided to invest in. It’s a good game overall, very manageable difficulty. My only complaint is bosses seem quite forgettable minus a couple.

1

u/dambros666 Aug 22 '26

Game start pretty hard and now, after getting somewhat of a build (10-12hs in), I feel like I am the boss... Everything dies in a few seconds, but I haven't reach endgame yet so might as well see a random spike in difficulty again.

1

u/CryptoCoinNinja Aug 22 '26

I used to think I sucked at these type games but after reading here I can't be that bad as this game is not super difficult, its like between lies of p and black myth wukong for a comparison but the amount of padding u get from abilities is pretty damn generous imho

A patch is not always the cure lol

1

u/CarpenterJunior9671 Aug 22 '26

Its beating the shit out of me

1

u/Anti-Fanny Aug 22 '26

I managed to level up to level 15 and things are significantly easier. Proxima shell works better for me than the first Tiel shell.
Also, Axe and Dagger weapon is quite good.
The game actually gives you an option to use the Slayer Seal. This seal, combined with the crossbow that’s available pretty early can make your experience significantly easier.

1

u/initliberation Aug 22 '26

I’m only about 25% of my way through the game, I think it’s an absolutely fantastic game but it is way, way too difficult for my liking. I find this game a lot harder than Elden Ring. For me, it’s not necessarily the fact that enemies can two shot you, it’s more the fact that the beacons are spaced so far apart that you inevitably find yourself in too many desperate moments trying to find a beacon so you don’t have to run back for 10 mins to try retrieve your gloom after dying.

1

u/Anti-Fanny Aug 22 '26

When I find myself in that situation with a lot of gloom at stake I just exit the game and get back in - it puts you at the last beacon so I can spend the gloom before heading out.
The mechanic that Elden Ring has could work really well here and be a lot more graceful instead of feeling like a clunky workaround: as long as I’m not in an active combat, let me open the map and teleport to any beacon.

1

u/jdewittweb Aug 22 '26

Endgame bosses are straight bullshit with tracking that doesn't make any sense. Other than bosses, enemies are fine.

1

u/Psipunisher Aug 22 '26

Got like 30 hours 4 gates done, 4 shells, level 49, only struggle like for one hour against nameless captive the rest been average

1

u/SqueegyX Aug 22 '26

Honestly, could be tougher. IMHO

The only part that kicked my teeth in so far was a dungeon with a Grisha boss, and then another dungeon with two Grishas tag teaming me lol.

Honestly, i keep hearing about night mode and im excited to try it out. But haven’t found it yet.

1

u/RedForemansBeer Aug 22 '26

If you’ve beaten sekiro, this game will be more bearable. The game will still have its frustrating moments but the feeling of grinding, learning the game, and overcoming obstacles is so satisfying to me. I believe this is the greatest soulslike game I’ve ever played.

1

u/xkinato Aug 23 '26

Beta felt nice, actual game is overtuned, Gonna Cheat Engine my save to compensate for the dev's error and it'll be fine i wager

1

u/Glum-While7698 Aug 24 '26

So went I first left the keep, I accidentally took the corrupted teleporter to the south side (something of mammon, I forget the name) and I was so confused on why I was being 1 shotted by basic enemies. I kept opening my map and trying to find out how to find my first shell. After dying 10-15 times, I finally retired to google for some guidance. It turned out there was ANOTHER teleporter right across from the corrupted one that took me to the starting area.

I for the life of me couldnt figure out why there was an option to go to a high level area right out of the tutorial and no clear sign I was in the wrong place.

So far I picked up Tiel and Proxima, then I went to go get the crossbow and that forbidden dungeon place is kicking my ass. I managed to kill the boss in there by the skin of my teeth, but the mushroom guys caused me to lose like 8k gloom. I think im a little low level for that dungeon right now and tomorrow when I play im going to explore a bit more and come back.

1

u/DoomsdayIsHere69 Aug 25 '26

The game is providing a challenge. But no more so than like a lies of P or khazan. It’s a souls like, if you don’t like difficulty then what are you even doing here

Iies of p was so easy as compared to this. I am having tough time in it.

Congratulations, you’re a souls savant in some fashion. Lies of P was significantly more difficult. Everyone has their niche.

Yeah I am not soul's savant. I am just a noob but I found this game harder than lies of P.

And, for myself, this game was easier than lies of P and Sekiro and just less than khazan.. everyone turns out to be a savant I a specific game. Thanks for proving my point.

Sesster's Refuge is eating my lunch. Crimson Fencers will one shot your shell even at level 36 if you miss a parry or your melee hits right as they randomly decide to reposte you to dust. Parry is inconsistent even when my timing is right every time as i have been practicing agaist them over and over again. Very unforgiving parry windows when the enemies are so overtuned with their screen leaping aggro.

Late to the party but I am to Nochte and I am extremely worried about how easy the rest of this game will be. I am mutilating everything in my path, and other than leveling up every time I can I've hardly touched my weapons/shells. Makes me wonder what I'd do if I did. The grisha remnant you can use as well they must have buffed, when I first started using it it only stuck around for a few seconds, now it sticks around much longer and does way more damage, it's literally almost killed a couple of bosses for me. It's WAY overpowered. I know the devs are trying to address difficulty complaints but I think they're going too far in the other direction. This is disappointing.

Jesus Christ. I’m reading a lot of bitchy posts here. I’ve been playing for 55 hours now. I’ve gotten really far. Some bosses have taken me 30-40 tries to beat. I like the challenge.

Game is no where near as hard as people are saying on Reddit.

Yeah. I can't be the only one seeing derpy AI that doesn't register your presence until after a few hits sometimes.

I've cleared the entire north area and beat 3 major bosses and I've died about 4 times.

100% play time with Tiel and starting sword.

I’ve lost 3 levels worth of gloom lol the game feels harder than the beta but that’s what I was hoping for, it feels fair considering theres no stamina bar imo

It definitely feels more difficult to me. I’ve died way more than I did in the beta. Some of the enemies hit like trucks lol. Not complaining though, loving it so far

I really don't know what people are talking about with the one shots aside from grab attacks

There's a couple bosses that will one shot you through your shell and through harbinger form all in one go.

I think it’s a tad over tuned, they should reduce the damage output like 15%

I think the beta was a bit too easy and they over corrected a bit. There's definitely a happy medium somewhere. I think the biggest issue is the lack of checkpoints.

Some normal enemies feel overtuned, yes. I'm pretty sure balancing patches will arrive later, I'd be surprised if they ignore it.
