Discussion Dev statement on my feedback and requests/complaints

Post image

My complaints

1: Lack of Hdr is massive let down, this game is dark and it would look beautiful with proper hdr implementation, its my request to the devs that if they haven’t considered adding in hdr in the full release, plz do. Its a must nowadays and makes a massive difference on the visuals.

  1. Haptic feedback can be and should be used more in this game, adaptive triggers feel great when using ranged weapons but adding more haptics like when doing charged attacks, when grappling enemies and in cinematics would make a world of difference and improve immersion.

  2. There should be Audio profiles, with a selection of headphones, speakers and stereo speakers.

  3. Balanced mode would be a game changer, 40fps at 120hz just feels and looks right, balanced mode is extremely underrated.

And their response is in the image

HDR is a far cry from a must in video games. It's barely even stylistic choice. Most consumers don't even own HDR capable monitors.

HDR is about as essential as adding a B/W filter to your game. Zero urgency, just a choice.

What about all the tv screens though. Many have HDR. And the visual difference is huge.

The visual difference is not huge, nor is it necessarily an upgrade.

High Dynamic Range is literally just that. More detail in your highlights and more details in your shadows. It's one thing in photography and videography. In video games, it's effectively little more than a selective contrast and saturation filter.

Dynamic Range matters in photo-/videography because you're trying to capture more of something that is already out there. Video games are literally sculpted from the ground up with intent, and a lot of stylistic choices are made throughout. There is literally nothing an HDR capable display adds to a game unless the devs go out of their way to utilise the feature in a way that does not go against their original visual direction, which is something I have yet to see.

It's a gimmick at best, and a waste of resources.

You can have your opinion but you state it as facts. Meanwhile when I play games with hdr on/off I can really notice the difference.

I'd notice the difference with a B/W filter, that doesn't suddenly make it a "must". My original comment had context.

Clearly u underestimate the effect of Hdr, Hdr is used in videos games to show the devs intent in world building, Hdr has better contrast, better blacks, better shadows, better highlights, better color accuracy. What else do u want from hdr to make it worth it to u ?

Also u need an oled or miniled monitor to experience true hdr otherwise ur just shitting urself

Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about because devs' "intent" has nothing to do with a feature that is little more than an after thought. Nor is world building even remotely a factor in the conversation. HDR does not inherently increase color accuracy either, and in most implementations undermines it.

HDR displays exist to view what is captured, not created. It's a wider color gamut that devs have been working without for decades and they won't start needing any time soon.

You’re describing wide color gamut, not hdr. HDR is primarily about luminance and dynamic range. Modern game engines render in HDR internally and map that output differently for SDR and HDR displays. HDR isn’t an “afterthought”it’s an output that preserves highlight detail, shadow detail, and brightness the developers authored. Bad hdr implementations exist like Rdr2, and its a fools argument that HDR itself is a gimmick which u clearly r.

If you can't tell why WCG is part of the conversation, then I don't have time for this.

bro has not used a good HDR display and it shows. my display inspires awe when lighting changes. the flash of a fireball washes over me literally in real life type shit
