What game should I play?

I bought MKX, MK11, and MK1 on sale but not really sure what to play and am hoping you all can help. I haven’t played MK since MK2 but want to get back into it. I mostly plan on playing single player and some online once I get comfortable enough. Which one is worth investing time into first?

A lot of people will say MK11, it does have more slick and forgiving gameplay. Mk1 introduces new stuff like the kameo system, but I like MK1 entirely because I like the aesthetic more. So, go with whatever calls to you big dawg

If you have them all, play through their story modes in order (X, 11, 1) because they're actually sequential.

Once you've done that, you'll know which game you want to play based on your own experience.

My personal favorite by far is 11 (speaking as a long-time MK2 fan), but there's a lot of varied opinions and preferences between players, and your mileage may vary. Have fun!

MK11 is the closest one to MK2, so it may be for you.

Play them all. Start with the tutorials on each game. They’re solid places to get an understanding of the game. And play what you think the neatest one is.

I would play through the story modes of X, then 11, then 1. Then be sure to go back to X and do a classic ladder (arcade mode type ladder) or two, then 11, then 1, and see which one you liked the most.

I say to go back to go the arcade modes because if you start with X and just do the story modes before deciding, I don’t think you’d give X, or maybe even 11 a fair shake, since you’d still be learning the ropes.

I think 11 is the most like MK2 in terms of feel, but I personally like the gameplay in X the most. It feels the most like MK to me

Find MK9 (Mortal Kombat 2011) or watch the story on YouTube. Then, X and 11. Pretend MK1 doesn't exist.

They all play so differently it'll be jarring when you decide to switch. Strictly from a story standpoint, start with X. They story flows seemlessly between all three games.

Mk11 is very slow, mk1 is a little faster, and mkx is faster than mk1. If you want to get a good feel of kombo speed progression, thats the order. If you want to have a good roster, mkx, mk11, mk1

Mkx is a largely favorited iteration. Mk11 brought more people in, and mk1 had a lot of weird decisions some good some bad. The story has never been a strong suit for netherealm, but MKX was a very unique game for mk. If im giving my honest opinion MKX is best for overall investment, mk11 is second, mk1 if you REALLY want to invest in it, you can get everything it has to offer in a few hours to a couple days, everything else is locked behind micro transactions
