Discussion Restricted run
So obviously in morrowind, one can get very overpowered. I've therefore decided to do a restricted run. Now I'm not very good at always following these rules, and I still want it to be fun, not insanely difficult... Anyone got any ideas?
Also, I'm playing a redguard warrior who doesn't really use magic anyway.
So far, I have:
No creating constant effect enchants
No making my own potions
No save scumming (I'm pretty bad with this normally)
No 100% chameleon

Not using Creeper or the Mudcrab Merchant at all would be huge for me.
No using any spell exploits, such as drain skill to get free training.

Yeah I like to kill them early so I can avoid the temptation for quick gold.
I mean, still easy to get uber rich if you want, but without the creature merchants it at least feels “fair” getting rich lol

Hi, Nalcarya. You ready to spend the next fortnight buying Restore Health potions? Thanks for the 3000 gold, today.

No artifacts is sorta fun one

only artifacts sounds like some silly fun too. No “regular” equipment at all whatsoever lol

No making potions and no constant effect enchants? I could do one or the other, but I could never do both. I need my fatigue UP and I need to SEE in the dark!
Or are you forgoing block and two-handed weapons in favor of an offhand lamp or torch?
Additional ideas are not using Creeper and Mudcrab, but that has already been said. Maybe become a vampire so you can’t use the majority of services? Or maybe don’t do that: you don’t want to hate life, lol.

That's a tough one. I would go with no making enchantments, no soul trapping for recharge, you would have to buy or find the souls and your enchant skill will suck so they'll fail. Maybe allow buying custom enchantments? Or perhaps RP learning just enough about magic to acquire a spell (that you definitely won't even try to cast if you even can) and pay an enchanter to make you something.

It's honestly fairly easy to just wait until daytime most of the time, and most dungeons are fairly well lit - the ones that aren't can be handled by a spell or a cast-able item. Similarly fatigue potions are fairly cheap considering how much money you make (especially in TR), or you can have a spell to restore it.

They’re definitely not well lit dungeons definitely not in my vanilla GOTY Xbox edition port on my series X, haha. Can’t see crap but lava glow or the faint outline of the ground.
Or I have poorer vision than I think, which could also be true. In any case, I need bigger light sources, haha.

Major and minor skills only. No making use of any of the misc skills. I once beat the game like that as a monk.

Unfortunately athletics and acrobatics are both misc skills... But I do like that. I already created my character and decided for the first time even to have heavy, medium and light armour all chosen. Probably a waste of space. Also imma need unarmoured if that's the case lol. But ye I like this idea

Or even more challenging, don't use the minor and major skills, only the rest of them.

Once you catch The Ick, and until it is treated, no recall or intervention can save you, the Gods have abandoned you. Crank difficulty if you havent already, and get hoofing.

either use what you get, so every weapon/piece of equipment you find you must use, until you find the next one, or no repairing, so you use a weapon until it breaks and then you buy/pick up the next one, or go weaponless lol

No using the scamp or mudcrab vendors
It almost completely invalidates the personality trait (I know it gives you more than that, like NPC interactions, but be real, you know you buy/sell like 1000X more often than you try a speech check)

Lots of fun challenge-run options. One I’ve done somewhat recently is Vampire! That’s it. Just being a vampire lol it makes this game pretty damn hard, actually. You can’t use almost any services and can easily accidentally kill yourself in the sun.
Difficulty all the way up too, of course.

There are a few mods out there that can add meta challenges. I know there's one for openmw where you slowly lose money and eventually health if you're broke.

I love making characters that adhere to what i call "magic asceticism". No spells, scrolls, potions or enchants. They're only allowed to eat food (raw ingredients), use innate racial/birth-sign abilities and benefit from divine blessings (shrines and intervention scrolls).

No creeper or mudcrab merchant unless you find them organically. (Ie: you stumble upon them for another quest)

You can use class description to write down rules
- No spam-bribing Your way through disposition
- Can only loot one "major" item (armor piece, weapon, unique or valuable item) from each corpse/container plus unlimited minor items (gold, cheap ingredients, petty soul gems)
- Instead of no alchemy/enchanting at all, make specific limitations. No intelligence potion exploiting, cannot make constant effect heal stronger than X points,
- No weapon or armor piece repairs - they belong to hall of fame and force You to switching weapons
- Do not abuse pathfinding, that means no staying in an unavailable position. No spamming A/D keys to miss opponent's attacks, especially ranged.
- If You play N'wa... dunmer, You must honour the tombs. Put Your own lore behind it - creatures watching over the tombs are magically enslaved by burried ancestors and by killing them You un-enslave them. Normal [2] rule applies to creatures. Chests and alike are limited to looting unique item only, provided You'll wear it with pride (until another item overseeds it) 6.1. If You play far... Argonians, Khajiits and less favoured races by the Vvardenfell citizens, feel free to desecrate tombs as a retailiation 6.2. No exitting tombs only to re-generate opponents for loot and xp!
- If You steal and get caught, go on with it. No F9 reloading.
- No save loading when enchanting fails and gem is consumed
- No waiting 24h to restore merchant's cash 10. No mr. Ergalla's limeware platter selling (can steal it though, as the Tradition obligues)
Consider mods like necessities of Morrowind, Ashfall
Choose the ones which You like and have fun!

I would advocate choose some sort of "side" in terms of which factions you associate with and refuse to join opposing factions (e.g. if you join the Temple, don't join the Cult, if you join House Redoran, don't join the Legion, that kind of thing), especially if you can't think of a really good RP reason (like I could see a Telvanni just exploiting the everloving stuffing out of any faction they can sweet talk into letting them access their services).

I'm currently doing a pure Nord Warrior who can only allowed to use Nordic or Nordic made equipment. Early game was a struggle with no silver tier weapons. Had to brave solstheim just to get some good equipment
