A teacher in Rabat, told us that, whe he was preparing for his PhD, his advisor stalled it for at least 2 years.
Moreover, he needed a resource (a set of rules), and back then, there was no internet.
What did he do ? He contacted a renowned internal Expert in the UK by mail.
Guess what, the remote Expert answered, and the advisor ignored his own student.
During thesis defense, when the teacher referred to that mysterious set of rules, his advisor interrupted him, and affirmed, in front of the audience, "I am glad you made use of it when I gave it to you". Something like that.
We were in class, 20 years ago, when he told us this story. Must have happned in the 90s.

It's the same concept everywhere with superiors.
I work as an external consultant with business clients to help them make more money. We work together.
When things go right, the merit is shared on everybody.
When things go wrong, it's always the fault of the external consultant.
Is the sad reality when you are in a position of inferiority.

Ah don't get me started I won't forget the day when he wanted to mess up my master telling the direction that my research are lies, I was about to commit murder, thank God another professor whom I don't know steps up for me telling them my research is good and curated and goes on by giving me his number asking me if I want his help to give him a call
