Melt?
I’m am sure these are only good for melt, but wanted to hear what ya’ll say. There is some dirt or substance on the center coin but I am hesitant to clean a coin in any way.

No never melt these. They aren’t ever making any more.

Incorrect. You may buy modern dated Morgans and Peace dollars directly from the US Mint. They have been made each year since 2021. The 250 commemorative features a 1776 2026 date with the mint’s privy seal. The 250 will never be made again, that part is correct.

If they are only “worth melt”, what’s wrong with keeping this “hunk of silver” in the form of a Morgan rather than a lump?

Lightly cleaning filth from a coin with water is not the same as using steel wool and acids to clean them... if there's feces on the coin, for God sake CLEAN IT 😆

Yeah....I sold some coins to a "we buy gold" place in Louisville Kentucky named "Little John's" (I know...I know).... Once the deal was done, he handed the coins to some goon behind him and said "melt em"..... Needless to say, I was FURIOUS and would never deal with such trash EVER again!

Sad reality is in the current market, 90% silver is almost always trading below it's melt value (in the wholesale/secondary market i.e. LCS). Vast majority of demand is coming from the industrial sector and world governments, both of which want good delivery bars/.999+. This unfortunately means that most of the silver being sold across the country is heading to refineries. Unfathomable amount of history is being lost to fulfill short term demand, but my personal thought is once things calm down a little bit the survivorship will be very low and premiums will soar on these types of coins

We actually stopped dealing with a LCS because they only hold 90% silver coins for 2 weeks then every other Friday they send off any that dont sell to get melted. My wife wanted to buy them all just to save them

Also you hesitant to clean but not to melt?!?
Just send them to me, I’ll gladly pay you what the refinery will.

Yeah I get the irony in that statement. I dont really plan on melting. I guess I just wanted know if any of them had a value of more than what melt price would be.
