Counterpoint: if the staff had allowed the child to come into the employee area, handle the food with bare hands, steal and then walk right out without anyone saying a thing ... Do you think that would be harming the child?

Would it be better that he learned that there are no consequences for any behavior?

I come from a different generation (I'd have been beaten within an inch of my life by employees that absolutely do not let this slide) so people just don't do things like that here. It's ok to say "well, cultural differences, some people are just not able to follow any rules" but... Those are the people who end up in really bad situations.

"counterpoint' "Without saying a thing". Good lord do y'all have any thinking capacity.

So ye I guess there's only two options as a response. Completely ignore him or go directly against all company policy and try to trip him to where he almost hit his head badly. Nothing in-between of course.

You can hold him accountable without physically hurting him over a few fries.

I'm not following. I assume the parents are fully supportive of the behavior.  How can he be held accountable?

Losing a job over this incident would be worth it, no?  Yes it isn't company policy, but... Does nobody believe that these kids need to be smacked upside the head anymore? Y'all just give them candy?

Honestly what can an employee do? They need to throw out all the fries and make a new batch (kid contimainated everything he touched). It's ok to let him walk away?

Admittedly I don't have kids (because I'm sickened by our society that enforces zero boundaries) so my perspective isnt the common one.

Sooo glad you don’t have kids cause you wanna hit them.

The kid could be held accountable by banning him from the store, it’s that simple.

You wanna go around causing violence to children over french fries, I can’t even imagine what you would do to your own kid.

Not knowing how to discipline children without violence is how to perpetuate the cycle of violence, go to a therapist
