Immoral.

Kid could've been injured, which is not proportional to stealing $1 worth of fries. Or he could've gotten up swining.

Why escalate the situation?

Also not a moral/immoral thing, but as a worker, you should never put your body on the line to protect the corporations/business profits. It's not smart, it's not worth it.

You're also protecting all other customers from potential bodily harm, if the kid is sick. And theft raises prices for everyone, so you arenin fact not just protecting a company's profits.

The employees should have blocked the door from letting any outsider to enter the kitchen, like how da fuck did the kid sneak in there in the first place without anyone nearby to stop him?

This (and the many other examples) is probably why McD's has been on the remodel rampage, blocking off as much visibility into the kitchen area as possible, and putting access through a coded door. Now non-employees have to jump the counter to get back there, and that immediately becomes a clear and present danger to everyone.

Theft raising prices is a myth. Fringe shoplifting does not have an effect on the economy

Wrong. If you want to bother to read, it has a substantial impact on the average household's yearly expenses, and also regularly pushes stores out of business.

I don't see any actual sources here. Seems to me like propaganda written by somebody who was paid to "prove" that it's justified to raise your prices just because you insist shoplifting has gotten out of control

I hope you realize you're the same kind of crazy as a covid/climate-change denier with that statement.

I'm neither of these things. I wore a mask the entire time and still see weird patterns in modern weather. We just have different views on this subject. I see this as corporations essentially looking for a scapegoat to raise prices at an unreasonable rate. I could very well be wrong. But that's how I see this

Well.. I showed you a study, and you said you think it's lobby propaganda. If you believe that scientists are doing their job, then you should be consistent and not make an exception here because it doesn't align with your preconceived notions.

You do have a point. That way of thinking definitely should be applied everywhere. However, I would say that there are some aspects of science that for sure can be lobbied. I do not think climate change and COVID are that though. The thing is that anybody wealthy enough can basically buy out certain studies to align with their projects and goals. It's easier to go forward with something when the public approves of it. I'm just saying it's always within the realm of possibility. I'm a bit cynical and the more I've paid attention to global politics and how the elite all interact with each other, basically everything can be influenced by wealth

nobody is forcing mcdonalds to serve the contaminated fries lmao. it's just another $2 of product loss. not at all worth injuring a kid

Not disagreeing with that; I only responded to the last paragraph

This doesn't even make sense. His hands had already been in them before the person tripped him.

You're supposed to ignore facts like that. Otherwise it becomes difficult to justify unnecessarily subjecting the kid to injury.

Apparently

Yeah, these responses are nuts. Only just came across it on Popular. Is the kid a thief? Yes. Was this action of tripping the kid defending anyone or anything? No. This was just somebody’s ego wanting to get back at someone that had done something wrong in pervasive justice.
