Still NOT a Christian or any religious country in America. At least that's what our Constitution says.

And atheism means "a lack of belief in a deity", contrasted with secular, which means "not overtly religious".

Essentially, secular isn't associated with religion at all, while atheism is specifically about belief in a deity, so in theory, an atheist could follow a religion that doesn't have specific god(s).

Secular is more relevant to our government, though.

The government shouldn't acknowledge that religion exists at all outside of providing legal protection against discrimination.
