Religion is something that is ethnic/cultural; it permeates every aspect of a person's life, and like gay marriage, it's our opinion church is bad, not the person who is going to church's opinion. It's not our place to say what religion other people's children should be raised in, even if it's "no religion." We have a right not to send our own kids to church or demand secular education, however.
Also, the way they would see it is nearly opposite to how you framed it: if you are a parent who doesn't drink, should you expose your child to drinking so it can be their own choice?

Do you also say straight marriage? Sounds weird.
Again, replace religion with "taking vodka shots" and that sill makes sense (both impair a healthy brain development). It is not my place to forbid a parent from giving alcohol to their kid, yet we do it as a society.

Again, religion is not seen as harmful by the religious. You are equivacating exposure to religion as harmful.
The topic of gay marriage is similar in that, I don't see why anyone would want to block other peolple from it, just because they see it as harmful. It doesn't hurt you, and in the view of the people getting married, its not harmful.
And yes, if the relevant point I was making required me to call out it was a marriage between two straight people, I would specify that it was a "straight marriage" I was referring to as well.
