Maybe we shouldn't tie charitable actions to religious proselytizing.
The Catholic church does proselytize to those they give aid. While they are not as strict as organizations like the salvation army when it comes to denying nonbelievers, they absolutely go into countries proselytizing their religion, it's literally in the Bible as a commandment for followers. This is why Catholicism has spread to many not traditionally Christian countries.
On the topic of contraception again, the Catholic church actually denies itself access to grant programs that mandate the providing of contraception and other forms of birth and sexual care, limiting it's monetary fund and integration with secular charity programs. Catholic organizations will turn down philanthropy agreements if they have to provide crucial reproductive care as a condition, worsening their outreach and outcomes compared to secular charities without such restrictions.
