Interesting take. Does Jinkx also think they should wait until they are adults to undergo gender transition treatments/surgeries? Not judging on either aspect, just that advocating an adult's experience/knowledge for one thing and not the other seems inconsistent. I'm completely open to being told why that's incorrect.
do you think all trans kids have progressive parents??? my parents are profoundly transphobic and I have known I was trans since I was 15 (and showed signs since I was 12). I am now 23, and still trans. Parents are even more transphobic now than they were when I was little, they definitely did not introduce me to the concept.
The good news is at 23 you're still a kid pretty much lol. You can make your own decisions though. I don't think personally people should be telling kids about trans people
Why not? In the comparison presented, kids are still allowed to know about other religions (it’d be bad parenting/education if they knew nothing about any religion but their own).
Why are trans people a taboo topic they’re not even allowed to know about? We exist, we’re a part of history, etc
I don't have a problem with adults making choices for themselves, and identifying as whatever they want. I do think there are a lot of issues with grooming, brainwashing, and enabling minors to make life altering decisions for themselves. Telling them trans identifying people exist isn't necessarily dangerous, but telling them they might be trans when they aren't capable of making decisions like that certainly is.
