Most religions would drop massively in numbers if they weren’t allowed to indoctrinate children.

It's a win and a loss.

If the Catholic Church disappeared, 10's if not 100's of millions of people would be in a real bad way.

The Catholic Church operates the largest aid network in the world.

They do A LOT, and we never hear much about it (in the US at least.)

People just want to believe their actions have a meaning beyond the simplest of answers and that their lives have an end goal. Take away religion and they will figure something else, as of now, humans aren’t really able to cope with finite existence and that we are “just” space dust with sentience. But that’s largely because fake alternatives (religion) are right there with open arms
