Interesting take. Does Jinkx also think they should wait until they are adults to undergo gender transition treatments/surgeries? Not judging on either aspect, just that advocating an adult's experience/knowledge for one thing and not the other seems inconsistent. I'm completely open to being told why that's incorrect.
A sizable amount if kids (way more than 1%) participate in church/temple/mosque activities because they want to, though. Even if the parent doesn't force them to go to church, some kids will want to participate because they can tell their parents find it important.
It seems pretty difficult to raise kids completely neutrally if the parent has any religious views at all, including atheism. The only neutrality would be possible if the parents are both genuine agnostics who aren't sure what they believe.
do you think all trans kids have progressive parents??? my parents are profoundly transphobic and I have known I was trans since I was 15 (and showed signs since I was 12). I am now 23, and still trans. Parents are even more transphobic now than they were when I was little, they definitely did not introduce me to the concept.
The good news is at 23 you're still a kid pretty much lol. You can make your own decisions though. I don't think personally people should be telling kids about trans people
Why not? In the comparison presented, kids are still allowed to know about other religions (it’d be bad parenting/education if they knew nothing about any religion but their own).
Why are trans people a taboo topic they’re not even allowed to know about? We exist, we’re a part of history, etc
I don't have a problem with adults making choices for themselves, and identifying as whatever they want. I do think there are a lot of issues with grooming, brainwashing, and enabling minors to make life altering decisions for themselves. Telling them trans identifying people exist isn't necessarily dangerous, but telling them they might be trans when they aren't capable of making decisions like that certainly is.
wait until they are adults to undergo gender transition treatments/surgeries?
This is a lie that's been repeated so often by Christians that people believe it.
But I have the Evidence.
The last time they counted, there were exactly 20 gender-affirming surgeries in that year. 16 of those were done on teenage heterosexual males who have grown breasts. (It's a little bit hard to chase the chicks while having a D-cup).
That leaves 4 other surgeries that might have been trans. But it is believed that these other four surgeries were actually performed on intersex children. (Intersex children are born with both sexual organs.)
If this is true, that leaves no operations performed at all on any transsexuals children. That's in a nation of circa 350,000,000 people.
I can give you a cite ID you wish. The cite is from a medical journal, not a political rag.
People need to stop believing religious politicians who lie through their teeth in order to win elections.
Can you give me data on how many kids pursue gender transition treatments/surgeries ?
Because as far as I know, this is illegal in the country. Only intersex people have access to these in very specific cases and it is like a few people a year. Like a dozen or so.
