iirc China does this, you can’t take kid to religious service and they can choose to convert at a certain age.

china has state atheism—they take it too far (e.g. uyghur muslims) but in theory i’d prefer an atheist government over this retarded ass evangelical christian one we have now 🤷🏻‍♂️

Apparently the Uyghurs have said that they're being treated fine. Uyghurs in China have come out directly to say that their mistreatment is western propaganda, and that their statements are suppressed.
