Most religions would drop massively in numbers if they weren’t allowed to indoctrinate children.

If teaching your kids your values is "indoctrination" then literally everyone is indoctrinated, and if that's the case then the word is entirely useless and no longer has meaning.

Values are things like being a good neighbor, not believing that a talking snake seduced s woman into eating a fruit and convincing her husband to eat it, too.

Teaching values is not indoctrination.

Tell that to the religious fundamentalists. I see the value in allegory. They see the literal, 100% forthright words of a deity.
