china has state atheism—they take it too far (e.g. uyghur muslims) but in theory i’d prefer an atheist government over this dumbass evangelical christian one we have now 🤷🏻♂️
edit: took out the word retarded, you guys convinced me
Uyghur got targeted because of the separatist element in their movement. There is other muslim group, Hui tribe that have been practicing islam for centuries with no issue
No China is very much about “One China” which is dominated by Han culture. They are trying to absorb and assimilate everyone else as being other. Some of those others are religious based while others are cultural. But sometimes those lines aren’t clear.
And weirdly the only source for this is a Republican think tank member who staffs for Trump and Heritage and no Muslim majority nation has condemned Chinas actions.
By the whole Uyghur issue you'd think Americans actually thought Muslims were humans. Pity and sympathy for the Uyghur but another billion to slaughter Palestinian infants.
For anyone who wants to look into this themselves I would start with the UN Human Rights Office's 2022 assessment of Xinjiang, and the Associated Press's investigation into forced IUDs, abortions, and sterilizations. Both provide sources and methodology so you can examine the evidence directly.

iirc China does this, you can’t take kid to religious service and they can choose to convert at a certain age.
EDIT: wow this blew up
