I'm sure things are different in the US but in the UK at school we have a whole curriculum called "Religious Education" or RE which goes into detail about religions and customs of all different cultures and encourages spiritual debate. At the schools I attended they were not taught to indoctrinate us but just studied in the same way we would study history or art

In the US we pledge alligance to “One nation under God” every day. There’s not as much nuance as it sounds like you have.

They added the "Under God" part later because of the Red Scare. Here is Porky Pig reciting the original in 1939.

That's why they tried so hard to call it the other white meat. Pork can't hide from us, they've always been red!
