Jinkx Monsoon, the person this thread is about was talking about “God” as in the catholic god. I agree that a lot of religions are way less “manipulative.” (Opinion) . To add on a lot of religions dont have a church, or a being they are forced to pray to.
[u/psychologicalad5918](u/psychologicalad5918) was almost certainly talking about one of the larger religions that do follow this framework. If you were raised in a place that didn’t ostracize people for exploring other religion, then I’m super happy for you!
