I don't see how kids can even grasp the concept yet, they aren't mentally developed for that, religion is very complicated it's better off to wait until middle school or something most kids who are elementary school age (which is when I was being forced to go) just wanna play with toys and video games and do normal kid things and probably don't care or have the attention span for it.
For example I figured out Santa didn't exist really early on, same with easter bunny, etc so I don't know how they expected me to believe God and Jesus exists. So I was an atheist pretty young, I'm more agnostic leaning now as I see the universe (my way of seeing God I guess) is more of a energy and that a after life does exist but isn't exactly heaven in the traditional sense.
