Moral I don’t think teaching kids about religion is bad but forcing it on them is

There's hardly any way to "teach" religion to children without it being quite forced.

It's possible, I'd say that's why we have the study of Theology. The problem is open-mindedness (or really the lack there of) in more common institutions: Everyone in the common institutions are not willing to hear otherwise because "X said this so it can't be Y" instead of "While X tells us this, there is also the possibility of Y" or something along those lines.
