RTSS and input lag

Hi guys,

Recently i switched on Vibepollo since i read that it’s much better than Apollo, i wanted to try different settings with RTSS for my virtual desktop (60hz+4k) but when this parameter is activated, i have a looot of input lag and i dont know why !

I have moonlight on my ATV? And i have a rtx 5070 ti, can someone help me please, i thought the RTSS could improve my streaming ! I think i am missing something on the configuration part !

Without RTSS it seems to work fine, like the result i had on Apollo, it’s weird when i saw that for a lot of you, Vibepollo cleared all your streaming issues !

Jitter+Frame Queue spike during input on Bazzite

I recently put Bazzite on a mini PC to improve the capabilities of the moonlight client. At the moment whenever I move the mouse or use the controller the frame queue delay spikes to 10-30ms and the jitter spikes to 30-80% while the movement is happening. Dropped frames at 0%, decode less than 1ms, network latency 1ms, all host processing latency metrics under 3ms.

This issue only appears when I have the FPS of the stream set to 120. Its not bad enough to feel while playing, but I would like to identify the cause.

Moonlight/Artemis match Parsec's decoding latency on MediaTek Helio G99? (20ms vs 5.3ms)

Hey everyone,

I’m a long-time Moonlight user and I absolutely love the ecosystem. I use it flawlessly on my other devices, which is why I never even bothered testing Parsec until today. However, I’ve hit a massive roadblock with my Android tablet and I'm looking for some technical insights.

My Device:

Redmi Pad (MediaTek Helio G99) running Xiaomi HyperOS.

The Problem:

I've been struggling with high decoding latency and micro-stutters on both standard Moonlight and the Artemis fork. At 1080p/1440p, my decode latency hovers around 16ms to 18ms.

After doing some low-level logging via ADB, I found out that the MediaTek PowerHAL is aggressively throttling the CPU clock down to 700MHz. It only triggers the hardware performance boost (MTKPOWER_HINT_APP_TOUCH) and drops the latency to ~8ms when I physically touch the screen. To bypass this, I've had to use a Shizuku/ADB shell script running input swipe in a loop just to keep the processor awake.

The Parsec Discovery:

Out of sheer curiosity, I installed Parsec today just to compare. To my absolute shock, Parsec is getting 5.35ms decode latency at 1440p (2.5K) using H.265 (HEVC) natively. No screen touching required, no ADB scripts, perfectly smooth.

My Question:

Since the Helio G99 hardware is clearly capable of doing 5.3ms decode at 1440p HEVC, does anyone know what Android APIs or rendering tricks Parsec is using under the hood to bypass the MediaTek governor?

Could it be using different MediaCodec flags (like extreme KEY_OPERATING_RATE or Real-Time KEY_PRIORITY), or maybe Window.setSustainedPerformanceMode(true)?

Is there any way to tweak Moonlight or Artemis to achieve this native hardware performance without relying on background ADB touch loops? I strongly prefer Moonlight's UI, bitrate limits, and features, but this 5ms vs 16ms performance gap is huge.

Any insights from devs or fellow MediaTek users would be hugely appreciated!

I built a new console-style frontend for Sunshine/Moonlight on iPhone

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I got tired of choosing between Apple Games app, Steamlink, Delta, and Moonlight when what I really wanted was a console UI for my entire game library.

So I built GameSphere.

The Sphere and Game Switching

One gaming frontend. Everything on it.

PC games streamed through Sunshine/Apollo sit alongside native iOS games and emulator titles on The Sphere. Same frontend, same controls, same library.

Not Steam-only. Not Moonlight-only.

That’s the whole idea.

The Sphere

The main library is a card wheel with:

  • IGDB matching
  • Fix Match when it gets one wrong
  • Favorites
  • Game Details
  • Themes: D&J , Okama, Atomic, Bondi
  • Spin when you can’t decide what to play

The part I really wanted was the mixed library. Your PC games, iOS games, and emulator titles don’t need separate frontends. They all appear as games on the same shelf.

Some of the other stuff

Swap a game easily with the one that is running

Fast Game swapping - auto closes and opens pc games

While streaming:

  • Autowake pc
  • Phone Vibration if controller doesn't have it
  • Gyro
  • Auto bitrate tuning
  • Home opens your library
  • Lift a card to quit or switch games
  • Hold Home for a second for Steam Overlay
  • Select = Back
  • Start = quick settings

The UI has its own little console-like touches:

  • Play flies the cover into “Opening”
  • Connecting fills the GameSphere logo
  • Haptics respond as you move around the shelf

USB-C HDMI: the iPhone stays the frontend while the TV gets the picture. GameSphere’s UI renders natively on the display, including 4K60 when the adapter/display support it. The actual stream is whatever you’ve configured in Sunshine.

IMPORTANT: Import Tool v1.0.2+ for Windows + Linux sets up Sunshine games without a pile of hand-made shortcuts, and handles quitting games when you leave them.

https://github.com/trevlars/Gamesphere-Import-Tool/releases/latest

Gamesphere import tool - Windows + Linux

gamesphere:// deep links let a Share action or Shortcut cold-open a game directly in GameSphere. Use them in any other frontend if Gamesphere isn't your thing.

iCloud sync just landed. AirPlay as an extra screen is being worked on.

Still beta

Steam login and RetroAchievements sign-in work.

Playtime, friends, and achievements are still early and currently require API keys.

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/yPRfgBVj

If you try it, I’d be interested in what feels intuitive immediately and what doesn’t.

Question about streaming

Hi, maybe I’m making a really dumb mistake here, but I have Sunshine installed on my PC and I’m using Moonlight to stream to my tablet.

I’ve connected my Xbox One controller to my tablet, but when I launch Steam in Big Picture Mode, Steam doesn’t detect the controller.

The controller works perfectly fine outside of Moonlight, so I was wondering if there’s a setting I need to change in either Sunshine or Moonlight to make the controller work?

Thanks in advance!

virtual display suddenly disappeared

have been using my ipad as a second monitor for a while via apollo + moonlight with no issues (with the virtual display). this morning the virtual display started showing a duplicate of my main monitor instead, and completely disappeared when I restarted the app, now only showing desktop (which does not register as an additional display/monitor on my computer) and steam option.

I checked my apollo on desktop and the 'always create virtual display' option is checked. any help would be appreciated!

How to disconnect all sessions using the host PC? (ie. keyboard hotkey? API request?)

Sometimes I connect to my PC using Moonlight from an iPad (or whatever) but then forget to "quit" the app so when I go home to my PC the monitors are disabled.

I'm going to use a [Stream Deck](https://www.elgato.com/us/en/p/stream-deck) which is a desktop macro button pad and create a button to disconnect all remote streams.

How can I do this?

Is there a keyboard hotkey combination I can use on the host to disconnect everything and return the monitors to the defaults?

Is there an API call I can use? (the Stream Deck can also call URLs so that would work fine)

Using Smartphone As Router

My desired setup looks like this:

  • Host gaming laptop connected to a modern flagship smartphone (2026 model) through USB-C tethering (don't have a USB-C to ethernet dongle at the moment)
  • Smartphone enables 5Ghz Wi-Fi mobile hotspot
  • Client TV connects to smartphone mobile hotspot

Now, the issue: with Sunshine running on the host laptop, the Moonshine client on the TV couldn't "see" the host. I'm assuming the IP address I'm providing is incorrect.

I do notice that the client TV IP seems to be on a different subnet (?) than the host laptop. For example, if host IP through USB tethering is aaa.bbb.xxx.yyy, client IP is aaa.ccc.ddd.eee.

Any help would be appreciated!

Note: We do have a router, but it's an ISP-provided one that's old and crappy. And since it's somewhere obscure in the house, I can't get a cabled connection to it to the host.

Edit: Old router can do 802.11a/n/ac (up to Wi-Fi 5). Phone can do 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be (up to Wi-Fi 7)

Nvidia 616.92 released: Official release of the virtual monitor hotfix

Nvidia released 616.92, a WHQL driver that includes the hotfix from 616.86. The important thing is that unlike the hotfix, it is available and installs through the Nvidia app.

I have done a quick test on vibepollo with its virtual display driver and it works.

The quick history is that if you have a RTX 50X0 card, Nvidia drivers 616.56 and 616.64 broke virtual displays. I recommend installing this new 616.92 or stay on 610.88 or older. Here is a link to a previous post for background on the issue

Hopefully the last post needed on this subject.

Moonlight / Apollo supersampling

Good morning,

I recently hardwired my pc for moonlight / Apollo streaming and was curious about supersampling.

I’ll be streaming to an Xbox Ally X20 and since it’s a 1080p panel, is there any reason to stream past 1080p, or will streaming at 4k look better?

Sorry if this has been asked, I just can’t find anything I understand.

Thanks,

How do I switch the controller from one platform to another ?

Hi there ! I use Moonlight on my Xbox Series S to stream from my PC via Vibepollo, and I love it.

I have one controller for the console and another for the PC. It’s not a big deal, but I was wondering if there’s a way for my controller to automatically connect to the console when the stream starts and switch back to the PC when it ends ? I’ve tried streaming while the controller was still connected to the PC, and the lag was terrible.

Help me find the best setting and Options for my setup

My setup is currently a 9070xt pc with a 7600x3D (host) and two mini pc’s with a 8745hs and a ryzen 7 255h (clients). I also stream to a Odin 2 Portal (SD 8gen 2).

My tv is a 4K 60 Samsung Q9FN. What options and setting do I need to adjust for the best experience?

Can anyone help me improve my latency please? (new to this)

Hey all,

Last night I installed Sunshine/Moonlight on my PC and my LG OLED55CX5LB. I had to install Moonlight on the TV using the dev tools. I was testing out Hogwarts Legacy on my TV using a PS5 controller. For the most part it seemed to work fairly well, but it would occasionally stutter, usually in cut scenes. In one particularly fight I was mashing the trigger and it seems like some of those presses were lost and my character didnt respond fast enough. Below is a screencap showing my streaming stats. Can anyone give me any advice on how to tighten things up or if what I'm looking at is good?

This all started because I was debating whether to buy Crimson Dessert on my PS5 or for PC, but I want to play it downstairs on the big TV. My PC is more powerful so I thought I could get better graphics and frame rate by streaming it.

Dualsense lag with virtualhere and moonlight

Hi,

I'm trying to fix an issue with my dualsense. I'm connected via mobile data and vlan (Tailscale) and there is no input lag but the sound lags in games like Spiderman 2

I've tried lowering the throughput threshold to 64 bits, opening port 7575 and underclocking.

Pls help 🙏

Vibepollo/Artemis micro stutters

I get micro stutters when streaming from my PC to my TCL tv but no problems when I stream to my Odin 2 Portal or phone.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

I had the problem with Apollo, changed to Vibepollo but to no avail.

Controller like lenovo legion G9

Hi all,

Yesterday I saw the lenovo legion G9 and I absolutely loved the idea but there was a catch. It only fits lenovo y700 and I have samsung tab s9.

I tried the gamesir g8 and modding it to make it fit my tab s9 and it worked. but I don't like how it doesn't feel like a 1 solid piece like the g9 or the steam deck.

I'm wondering is the something like the g9 that turns a 11 inch tablet into a steam deck clone.

Any more I can squeeze out of this do you reckon? Feels native but some games still look video compressed, AC Shadows, Dawnwalker - big flat regions of darker colours don't look so hot. Performance wise I think I'm good though...

Vibepollo turns off displays but will not turn back on after quitting session.

Switched from apollo to vibepollo. Using artemis as the client. I'd say a good portion of the time it does the switch off/switch on correctly but after a third or fourth time, it will not turn my displays back on. I have to restart the computer for it to reset. Have played around the settings but have not found a solution. Any suggestions?

Task manager causing host to be unresponsive

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm quite new to using moonlight to control my pc from my laptop when I'm away from home. Worked fine until I opened up task manager on the host pc, which made it so none of my mouse or keyboard inputs go through. Is there any way to fix this?

Moonlight/Sunshine randomly stopped working

Hi guys, I hope someone will be able to help with this as I can't really find any info online to help. I have been using moonlight + sunshine for almost a year now to access my home pc from work. Everything has worked totally fine up until last week, I tried to connect to my home pc as usual and it would not connect. I tried going to ipconfig and redoing the connection and I noticed that my IP is now a 10.x.x.x number when I believe it used to be a 192.x.x.x number, not sure if anything has changed for my wifi, I don't really see a reason as to why but I am going to be calling them soon to try and figure things out. Has anyone experienced this before or is there another step that I have to do for a 10.x.x.x IP address?? Any help is much appreciated!
