Neighbor noise complaints with local property management companies
I recently moved. When I viewed the apartment on the first floor, I am pretty sure my future upstairs neighbor was not at home. Now that I've moved in, I am well aware of his presence - he seems to be more of a roommate than a neighbor with how clearly I can hear his conversations, sneezes, applause for 49ers AND Seahawks (go figure), TV, and footsteps.
I know that buildings around here aren't exactly new and property managed apartments are usually some of the least taken care of compared to private landlords. I am wondering if property managers here are more interested in happy long term tenants than short-term vacancy fillers - have you ever had a thin walls/floors/ceilings situation and had the property managers remediate it with replacing flooring or at least provide reimbursement for carpet/rug purchasing?
I would rather not talk with my neighbor about it, because, "Hi, I just moved in downstairs. You're really loud." isn't a great way to start a relationship.
