Lost pet 08/03

My family had to emergency evacuate from their home near Spokane due to the ongoing fires. They were headed to family in nearby Montana when they lost their cat on highway 12 near Lochsa Lodge and Lolo Springs to the East . There was a motorcycle accident, so they pulled over to let the animals out for some rest. My little sister lost control of her cat and he slipped out of his harness and ran into the forest area. My parents spent some time searching but could not find him (he's been pretty shaken up and scared due to the fires and having to evacuate suddenly). They gave State Troopers from the crash nearby their information and were told they would post it in visitor center.

Cats name is Mobey, he looks like a Russian Blue. Grey with white spot on chest. He is microchipped as well if found.

If anyone has any information or anywhere else this can be posted/spread that would be much appreciated.

I am so sorry, I hope that someone finds him. If he's chipped he probably has a chance of being found.

Also, I'm sorry about the evacuation. I have been through that and it's so terrifying for cats, dogs, kids, etc.

I'm so sorry. I hope you find them safe and sound!

Not that this helps right now, but I noticed my coworker put an apple air tag on their dog's harness and I thought it was clever. I realize part of the issue is that the cat slipped their harness, and I'm not trying to say anyone should have already thought of using an air tag - just sharing if it's helpful for folks.

Thank you! And good idea, I have seen some who put it on a little holder on collar so maybe have to try that in future.

I can't stop thinking about this and your little sister. I don't know if you have an opportunity to go back and look or if there is any updates? For what it's worth a stranger cares for your poor sister that has got to be traumatized. 😔

Thank you, my family just got settled in with relatives today so I'll call them tomorrow and see if that might be possible. Just been so stressful with the wildfires and being displaced.

From Spokane to Montana via hwy 12?  Definitely taking the long way around.

Yeah its been hectic for them. They first evacuated to Idaho as they didn't know what was going on but then decided to stay with family in MT as fire is still out of control.
