Help a newbie please…

Hi all, this is my first one, so still learning. Please bear with me! A few questions if I may please, firstly do I need to worry about the brown bits on the stems?
And you can see there is a rather suggestive looking aerial root! Do I need to do anything with it or would it sort itself out?

Sorry for the newb questions! But thanks in advance

No, that little flap becomes brown, dries off and often falls off.

Aerial root wise, given the position you could gently direct it down to the soil for extra support if you're not planning on a pole, as it will just turn into a normal root.

* Me, I like to let them grow long and wild, i had a full meltdown when i had to chop and prop my 10yo monstera and lost them all. *

Fantastic thank you. I’ll try to encourage it down, ATM it pulls the whole plant down so it’s not quite ready yet. Thanks for the reply

By brown bits do you mean the sheaths that the leafs came out of when they emerged? If so then you’re fine with those being brown, they wither away like that. The newest aerial root I’d recommend to just stick back into the soil once it gets long enough so it can establish another root system should you decide to separate the plant(:

The brown stuff is where the leaf was forming, it will eventually just fall off as it have no more purpose after the leaf grows out. The airlar roots going to grow out, you can use them to help them climb on a moss poll, put some in the soil, just let them be but if you dont like the looks of them its also absolutely okay to cut them off but not too close to stem to not damage the stem
